Do I have to have Programs?

Is this a necessity? I am having a good size Wedding - about 200 people, the ceremony is at the reception site - and is only 1/2 hour long, a spiritual ceremony - do I have to have programs? Please advise! Thanks All!!

Re: Do I have to have Programs?

No, you definately do not have to have programs!

(Of course they can be very inexpensive and easy to make, so if you are intimidated by prices you are hearing talk to one of the many do-it-yourselfers here!)

Re: Do I have to have Programs?

You don't have to do anything you don't want to! Some people see it as a necessity, others skip it. All depends on what you want to do. I personally, like having a program at a wedding. I notice when there is not one. It does not have to be anything overly complicated, but I like to read who is in the wedding, and have something to follow along with. Just my opinion. THink to yourself..is this something I really want to have and share with my guests or do I think I should do it becasue other people are having them? I've been to weddings with programs and weddings without programs. Neither is right or wrong.

Re: Do I have to have Programs?

You dont HAVE to do anything! If you are not interested in having them - skip it.

But my ceremony was quite short and I still had a big program - it really has nothing to do with ceremony length. I just like reading them and I wanted our guests to have a little background about us and our wedding so I did them.

FYI: At least 1/2 of my program was info about us, the date, etc.. directions to the reception, etc.. - having nothing to do with the contents of the cermony.

Re: Do I have to have Programs?

Since our ceremony is really just bare-bones, enough to get us married and nothing else-i don't feel the need to have one.
Maybe I would feel differently if there were readings or songs or whatever.

I have found that when I am given a program, i do read them, but sometimes during the cereomony (especially long ones - i know i'm bad).

Re: Do I have to have Programs?

we are not doing them, our ceremony is going to last about 10 minutes, no readings or anything. I really don't see the point for us.

Re: Do I have to have Programs?

Thanks girls - I saw lots of different brochure-type paper in staples, so maybe if I am bored (yeah right) closer to the Wedding (May '03) I will look into it. Thanks for your input.

Re: Do I have to have Programs?

Hi.

I am also having my ceremony at the site. It will not be that long, but I am having one at the request of my family. My aunt will make them on the computer for me.

I went to a wedding at Sand Castle last month and she did not have one. To be honest I did not miss them, nor did alot of people.

It is not a necessity but to many a special touch to the ceremony.
