Do I have to hide out in my Bridal Suite? :) :)

This may seem like a silly question. Are you going to your cocktail hour? Does your bridal party go? Or does everyone make an appearance when they are announced at the beginning of the reception?

we were at our ****tail hour, and I'm glad we were. More time to spend with guests and enjoy the party.

Its really a choice based on personal preference.

I plan on going to my coctail hour for a little while in the beginning, but then I am going to disappear into my suite to wait for my grand entrance. My bridal party is free to do what they want. It is really up to you and whether or not you want to wait to make your grand entrance or see everyone before hand. I know personally, I want to go to my coctail hour, that is my favorite part of any wedding. That may be the only time I can grab something quick to eat.

Hubby and I paid for everything on our own so we wanted to enjoy every single minute. We attended our Cocktail hr and it was awesome and worth it, we got to greet our guest so we did not feel so pressured to do rounds at tables and was able to enjoy our day. It was the best decision we made. Our guest were surprised to see us, but we mingles and enjoyed it all.

we planned it so we could be there the entire time. we didn't want to miss anything. we left about 10 minutes before we had to be announced, which is when people are starting to come inside anyway.

We are doing a reception cruise, so no where to hide. We will both be at the cocktail hour enjoying the open bar and appetizers we are paying for

Hmmm... I really want to go to the cocktail hour and enjoy the food. My FI's uncle got married at Crest Hollow also and his family raved about the cocktail hour for years. :) I was thinking of using that time to take even more pics. Also, I wouldn't mind making a grand entrance. Oh well, I guess I'll make up my mind when the time rolls around...

I went to a wedding last week where the newlyweds mingled at the cocktail hour and when the DJ presented them at the reception it was not exciting to anyone because we had already seen them. It was like yeah yeah big deal, been there done that.

I've always planned on us hiding out. Since we have the Normandy Room at CB we'll be coming up out of the floor and I'd like to add suspense to the drama. I want the guests who did not go to the ceremony to be royally impressed by us when we make our entrance. If we go to the cocktail hour then the thrill is gone.

We SO plan on enjoying our CH - we want the opportunity to mingle so that we can enjoy our dinner and par-tay We'll also leave about 10 before the reception begins to freshen up and make an entrance (I hadn't thought of that for some reason until I read this thread - thanks! )

i like Boop's idea of being there for a while then disappearing for your entrance. i think i'd like to go for at least half and then hit the suite for some quiet time before the entrance.

we definately will be at cocktail hour, mike will want ALL the food, and to pick it out himself :)
we will go into the bridal suite right before we get announced into the reception

our wedding is 2 weeks away and we are still iffy about this.. I want to go and my FH doesn't... he wants the grand entrance at the reception.... we'll see!

June262004: We're planning on doing the exact same thing! We are making sure taht there is a lot of time inbetween the church and cocktail hour so we can take a ton of pix and we won't miss anything. I'm kind of nervous about what all my guests are going to do, but i'll worry about that later!
