Do I have to put fh parents name on the invitation?
Original post by Spitzergirl
I was thinking about only putting my parents, but then I started to feel bad.....
Did any of you just put your parents name giving you away to dear fh?
I feel torn. But my parents are the ones who contributed about 95% towards the wedding.
Thanks

I didn't put FH parents on the wedding invite because my mother is paying 100% of the wedding!

Most definately... in my case the FH parents are contributing but even if they weren't their name would be on it.... i think it is tacky and rude
my mother had a friend that this happened too..although she did contribute...they did not put her name on the invite and she was very offended and upset
it is both of you egtting married
Exactly.....His parents are like the sweetest people put on this earth...I know, I would be angry if I was in there situation...and I only saw 1 set of parents name....I think...I will be nice...and add both...to make them happy.!!!
I want to have a good start!!!
definately... i think it is just being considerate and courteous... don't you think... i didn't mean tacky i mean we are marrying the child of someone else right??
Defintely!!!!

I am not putting either one of the parents names on the invite. My mom doesnt want to be she feels I am too old to have that on the invitation and his parents have given us nothing. Everything they promised they went back on, so I wont even consider putting their names on it even as a reference.

I have been going back and forth on this issue. FH's parents have not contributed anything but out of respect (more for FH), I feel it is the right thing to do. In the end, I will probably end up doing that. I truly wanted only my parents names however.

Only if they are hosting (paying for it) we're paying for our entire wedding so only our names are on it....no parents

i would included both parents names even though your parents are flipping the bill. you don't want to start a new life with FH and have the in laws pissed off!!
Re: Do I have to put fh parents name on the invitation?
I am just putting my parents names on the invitations. No reason in particular, I just want it that way but I guess it is nicer (more polite) to include both sets of parents names.

We left all parents names off, because we paid for EVERYTHING

Re: Do I have to put fh parents name on the invitation?
This was actually a deal breaker between my brother and his ex-fiance (not the only reason- there were plenty of others- but just the straw that broke the camel's back)- my parents were paying for 1/2, and still they wanted to leave their names off the invites. As for me, both parents names go on- and on top, I think it is totally rude to write the bride's parents name on top, and then on the bottom to add 'son of Mr. and Mrs. X' under the groom's name. This is 2004- if you're going to acknowledge one set of parents- acknowledge both- remember, these are the people who helped raise & shaped your wonderful groom to be- regardless of how much or even if they contribute!

I went back and forth on this one. Both sets of parents don't really get along (long story) and my dad really just wants the invites from them, but my mom and I agree, it's the right thing to do. They aren't contributing much, (except grief from FMIL) but it's his wedding too, and I know he wants it from both parents, so that's how we will do it.

I'm putting my parents then me then him then his parents. My parents are paying for eveything but i think it looks nicer. I'm not marring a random guy, i'm marring the son of his parents therefore i wanted the names of both parents.

My parents are putting in more than FH's parents, but I wouldn't dream of leaving them out of the invitation. I know parents of grooms who were very offended when the bride's parents were named in the invite and not the grooms parents. I think it is a bad way to start off a marriage.

we are putting 'together with their parents' because we are paying for our wedding - but we still want to show some respect in them bringing us up to this point.

I agree, I wouldn't want to offend anyone.

we are putting his dad and dad's wife on the invite. They are paying for the DJ and the rehearsal dinner, but either way, MY parents felt that it would be wrong not to include them.
