Re: Do I need to start now???
So far I have:
Church Reception site Photo/Video DJ Met with Limos last night and booking next week
Would you think about getting married in the fall or winter. Places are much cheaper those times of the year and it'd be much easier for you to stick to that budget.

Re: Do I need to start now???
I agree, you'll save ALOT more money doing it during off-peak season and also keep your guest list down

It may not be impossible, it just may limit your options. Try to book a hall on the off season on an off peak so to speak night or day, even a holiday.

Re: Do I need to start now???
Pretty much everything is done for me except for our honeymoon. I am not getting limo's because there is no reason to for my case.
I am glad you put off the planning since you came across a problem. Sometime people get soo wedding hung up that they forget about their relationship which is more important.
I wouldn't RUSH RUSH - just get your list done first of all and realize it deff. will grow in size about 10 people and then start budgeting from there.
Figure out how much you have which you did then your list count and then plug in numbers to what is most important to you (usually the RH).
Good Luck!

Re: Do I need to start now???
I agree with the other girls- off season jan-march is a great time- or you can look for an all-inclusive- someone I work with got a deal for absolutely everything for 8000 for 120 people at Marconi Manor...
As for me... I have zip zilch zero done- we are working on the contract for the reception hall and maybe next week we will have that done and at least have something.

Re: Do I need to start now???
i have only booked my RH so don't feel bad!! You have the time, everything will work out!
if you are on a tight budget, i actually just recently got some CRAZY thing in the mail with these all inclusive packages from the Commack Wedding Center. (flowers, limo, photography, djs, etc etc) I dont know how good/bad their services are. I don't have it now because I'm at work but I'll FM you the details tonight when I get home.
ALSO check out Brentwood Country Club..they have a crazy all inclusive package too. My sister went to a wedding there and said it was great!

Re: Do I need to start now???
Well to make you feel better, I have absolutely nothing done. Haven't even gone to look at halls yet. But don't worry, you've got lots of time to figure it all out! As for the tight budget, there are plenty of places on here that are reasonable, especially if you do it on an off day out of season. There are also a few halls that have big packages that include everything flowers, photo, video.
Dont stress out too much, just take it one step at a time and it will all come together!

Re: Do I need to start now???
Don't start stressing because people have so much done already. When you start planning...it all kinda falls into place. There will be a lot of research because (like most) you're on a budget. My advice to you would be to sit down with FH and decide what your priorities are. Mine was the band and FH was the afterparty. So we planned accordingly. We saved a lot of $$ by changing our original date to Nov and having a Sat day wedding. Also...do your research...there are good decently priced vendors out there. I saved $$ by making a lot myself including my album. Good luck!

I second the DIYs. The more stuff you can make yourself the better it will be for your budget.
I plan to make a majority of the Centerpieces, invites, favors, programs, and menus.

Re: Do I need to start now???
I just wanted to answer this question so I could do a mental check list for myself...
RH w/ ceremony Flowers Cake Save the Date Mags Looked at BM dresses (then found out they were being discontinued...so we have to start at the beginnning with that)
So I guess I need to start getting my butt in gear!!!
As everyone else has been saying...I think once you start everything else will fall into place...at least I hope.
And I know someone mentioned Brentwood Country Club. My co-worker went to a wedding there about 6 weeks ago and had the BEST time! Great food, friendly service, beautiful flowers. You might want to look in to that.
