Do I REALLY have to throw that boo-k?

Original post by Katherine121

It may seem like a hoot at some weddings, but honestly, most of my single girlfriends are like are tired of appearing as if they would KILL to catch that boo-K and be thought of as the next one whose 'turn' it is to get married!

Are there ANY fun alternatives to this practice?

We didn't throw the bo-k either -
nor did we put anything in place.

At my brothers wedding they handed the bo-k off and dedicated a dance - to the next person getting married - which was me.

Thanks! I'm not going to subject my single girlfriends to the boo-k toss. There are a lot of great suggestions on here, especially the anniversary dance (unfortunately both our grandparents are deceased) but, if I do decide not to replace it with anything, it's good to know that's okay too.

I'm not doing the boo-k toss/garter thing either. I didn't even think of doing anything in its place but I got some really good ideas. Thanks girls!

I am not doing the bouquet toss, but I am thinking about the anniversary dance and both of our grandparents are deceased too. I think there will still be plenty of married couples out there and some aunts & uncles have been married a long time. The idea for the church sounds good too.

My Best Friend did the anniversary dance..The DJ started out with 'If your married less than 24 hours, leave the floor' and went all the way to 50 something years and her aunt and uncle won.
My cousin is getting married in July and using my BFs DJ and is also doing the anniversary dance.
