Do people just not shop at Fortunoff??

Original post by sarahradio5

Things are off my Bed, Bath and Beyond registry (that's THE most popular one - and the last one I decided to do!), my Macy's registry and my honeymoon registry... but NOT ONE ITEM has been purchased from my Fortunoff registry!! Ya think something's wrong that items just aren't being removed from it or being reflected on the online list, or do people just not buy from Fortunoff? I thought that was the most popular place people bought from??

Definitely location...it's a pain. I personally won't shop there out of principal either...once we went there e-ring shopping and another time we went to register and we were treated horribly on both occasions. The saleswomen were rude and condescending. I'm still annoyed with myself that I didn't write a letter complaining about the e-ring saleswoman. She was so nasty, I told her that she was ruining what is supposed to be fun for us and we left. So I have a personal vow not to shop there. That's me though!

Not many bought off of our Fortunoff registry either.

Alot of people were like 'oh Fortunoff... thats so expensive' so I think the reputation of prices makes people look at your other registries first.

Please take a look ay my wedding review and scroll down to the part about registries. I rated all stores I registered at. I have a friend who is not on LIW who was married last week and had the same experience I had. Here is what my review said about Fortunoff:

Fortunoff-- C

At the beginning, they did not remove any of the purchases form my registry, even the ones that were bought through weddingchannel.com, and when I went to do it online, the changes did not go through! H and I both called customer service about this. They tried to refuse to remove the items from my registry unless I gave them the names of the people who bought the items, and for each item, they wanted to know whether it was purchased online or at the store. I told them that I should not have to provide them with names of my friends and family members and that it is really not up to me to keep track of how the purchases were made. I honestly do not know whether the people who brought Fortunoff’s items to my shower had bought them in the store or online. Fortunoff told me that this was the fault of my friends and family for not requesting to take the items off the registry. I would have believed this if it was 1-2 items, but this was every item purchased at Fortunoffs. I reiterated my request to have the items removed form my registry. When the customer service rep refused, I finally threatened to just delete my whole registry and not use Fortunoffs. A manager finally called me back and straightened it out, but I see no reason for the way that FH and I were treated by 2 different customer service reps. It’s not so much that they made a mistake, but that they gave us a very hard time about fixing it.

FYI if you have a Bed Bath and Beyond coupon and you buy something at Fortunoff they will honor the BBB coupon as long as BBB sells the same item. Same thing goes with Linens and Things.
By the way Fortunoff if my favorite store!!! I love everything there.

I think it is due to their location. One store on LI isnt convenient for everyone.
As far as being overpriced, I have to disagree. I registered at BBB and fortunoffs. I actually found many items cheaper at Fortunoffs and removed them from BBB and put them on the Fortunoff registry. BBB has a tendency to raise their prices a little b/c they assume everyone will use the coupons.
But if I had to buy a gift, I would think of convenience first IMO.

Edited for spelling

So, I'm confused. The pattern I want is not sold at Macy's (although it can be put on the registry and ordered). The only places that have it are Fortunoff, Bed Bath and Michael C. Fina. Everyone here is saying Fortunoff is not a good plan, Bed & Bath doesn't sell all the pieces and Michael C. Fina is only in Manhattan or on-line.

Ugh. What should I do?

I registered at Fortunoffs and Linens and Things...I received almost everything from my Fortunoff registry, and not so much from my LnT-I think a big reason is b/c most of my DH's family (and mine) live in Westbury...so the Fortunoff store is the most convenient.
As far as price, I'm not sure-I think Fortunoff's has good prices (I worked there for years and the price thing was a huge misconception especially with 'home' merchandise). I still do most of my shopping there, mainly b/c I love the store and I like the set up so much more than BBB and LNT-JMO

Same thing happened to me! I moved a lot of stuff over to Macys actually. In retrospect I should have just registered at Macys.
