Do the bridesmaid dresses have to match the invites???

Do the bridesmaid dresses have to be the same color as the invitations?? It took me a long time to find invitations and all the ones I liked were in dark brown and ecru. i finally went with an invitation in this color but I want my bridesmaid in another color. Is this a faux paux or is it okay to have your invitation in a different color than your theme. HELLLPPPPP

Of course not. Just go with what you like. No one is going to be bringing their invitation to the wedding anyway.

Matchy-matchy is overrated.

No one is going to bring the invite with them, hold it up to your bridesmaid's dresses and criticize you for not matching them perfectly.

No, but--how different are you talking? Ecru and brown would go with a lot of different colors. But if you wanted magenta bridesmaid dresses, that might be a bit much. You could always work brown into your wedding in small ways--ecru doesn't count, it's a totally neutral color and very common in paper. Or just ignore it all as long as the ecru and brown otherwise blend well with your other colors. What color do you want?

absolutely not. My invites are off-white and my BM dresses are black and light pink.

Celadon green would go very nicely with brown and ecru! Don't worry about it. And, as I said, you could bring brown into the wedding if you like. Give them brown sashes, or tie the bouquets with brown satin ribbon. Lots of things you can do. It will look lovely.

I personally thing people go a little crazy with the whole matchy-matchy thing - but that's just me. I definitely don't think your invitiations or STD's for that matter, need to match your bridesmaid dresses.

My bridesmaids dresses won't match the invites...or much of anything for that matter. My main color is turquoise and thats the color of the dresses, but everythign else I have been finding has ended up being more of an aqua/tiffany blue color. At first I was bummed, but then I figured that none of the guests will even notice probably...I seriously can't imagine guests being like 'o my god, the colors don't match.' I think its just somehting us brides get hung up on because we want everythign to be peeeerfect

My personal opinion, I think it can be over the top to have your friends match the stationary, the flowers, the napkins, the tablecloths.....

As a former bridesmaid, I was a bit disappointed that I blended into the table like a chameleon...

no...i wouldn't have even thought about that...finding invitations that you like is hard enough as it is without having them match your bridesmaid dresses...you should just do whatever you want and if you love a particular invitation just get it.
