Do you agree with this? (Re: Booty Shaking Brides)
This 'Gripe' from the MSN article yesterday got me thinking:
'Gripe 6: Class act. 'I was at a wedding in Malibu and it was beautiful... until the DJ let it rip with 'Baby Got Back.' It must have been the bride's request, since she and her gaggle of friends began squealing and ran onto the dance floor. There she was, in her beautiful white Vera Wang wedding gown, with her hand in the air and her *** swinging back and forth. It was nasty. I'm not Miss Proper, but it just seemed out of place to be rump-shakin' at your own wedding.' -- Colleen, 33'
Okay, this is bad, but I could kind of see this happening at my wedding with all of my college friends there -- maybe not to 'Baby Got Back' but you know what I mean
So, are you all going to dance how you would normally dance with your friends and to the same songs OR are you toning it down for the wedding? No Usher, no Luda, no DJ Kool's 'Let Me Clear My Throat' ?
ETA: OR... are you specifically asking your DJ/band to hold off on the 'fun' music until later in the night when the older folks have left? I remember at our Best Man's black tie wedding in Miami, they played 'P.I.M.P.' and it was awesome

So not toning it down...or should I say, so did not tone it down! LOL. I was dancing reggae with my hubby and loving it! And my rendition of Madonna's Holiday with all the girlies is surely going to make me laugh for many, many years. Do not agree with the gripe at all.

This post has this song running through my head!!!!
We can dance if we want to We can leave your friends behind 'Cause your friends don't dance and if they don't dance Well they're no friends of mine I say, we can go where we want to A place where they will never find And we can act like we come from out of this world Leave the real one far behind And we can dance

I'm going to dance how I normally dance (I'm not that crazy to begin with). We're having a band, and have chosen more 'classic' songs to be played at our reception. A lot of our 'rock' songs are from the 60's, 70's, and 80's.

IMO, the person who thought that had to kind of stuffy, and if you like 'Baby Got Back' then go for it, it's a party, and specifically a party for you - you get to decide what the mood should be.
In fact, at the the last wedding I was at, one GM got up and rapped this song himself - everyone was dancing and it was hilarious, but the couple was this kind of couple (and I don't mean that pejoratively) and this just went along with the rest of the evening. If this isn't you, it might be weird, but if it is, then I think more power to you, and it's fun. Those guests who disagree... too bad, you can't please everyone and if it's not their style, then they shouldn't play it at their wedding. But that doesn't give them the right to dictate what you should do at yours!
Personally, there will be rump-shaking of all sorts at my wedding, but that's us and that's what we want - our mood for the wedding is our version of fun and not to be snotty, but I don't really care what any of my guests think about that. Those who know me will expect it, and will come in droves to participate in it.

LMAO! come on and have fun. My fh and I plan on dancing to AC/DC's 'she shooke me all night long!' as our first dance as man and wife. As far as we are concern its our damn party and we want to have fun. Lets face it, glim and glamor is nice, but after an hour it can be rather boring. Let loose and have some fun! the only thing I would reccomend is if you have children at the party, have a certain late time that they have to leave before you play the hardcore stuff, (Little Kim, ICP, and so on) But have fun and just enjoy yourself!

It's your day! Have a blast and be yourself. If someone doesn't like it, it's too damn bad for them!

I danced my a$$ off and had the best time!! I wasn't a drunk, I wasn't groping my husband, so it didn't look like a slutty thing, but when i come out of my shell, watch out!

I had to look when I saw the title...
Ok, a girlfriend of mine had requested this song at my wedding. I never left the dance floor, so I was already out there w/ my booty shakin' self! It was actually halarious, and the video is even funnier!!! If they thought that song was bad, they should see how my cousins and I must have mistaken my wedding as a club!!! I had the best time, and everyone I know still raves about how much fun my wedding was, guess we did something right!
If you want to do it, go for it. Let your hair down and have FUN!!!!

WE definitely had to have the Thong song at our wedding because it had a significant meaning to DH and I.
