Most of us off the bat would say no- but a conversation I had with FH and a friend of ours got me thinking.
Fh was telling our friend that I am always stressing about the wedding and all the minor details- so our friend said, you know Kysha she is all about ettiquete and what people think of her.
Now my response was- No it is not about what people think of me, but about making a good impression. I have always been this way- When I plan something I give it my 100% and this wedding is no different.
Now I am thinking do we do things with the mindset of pleasing others or making ourselves look good to others? Are people's opinions really that important to us?

Kysha girl.. I don't think YOU worry about what others think of YOU! But I do think you try to always follow the book and do things the right way!!!!!!!

If I love you and you are my friend... Then I care SOMETIMES what you think. But all in all I am going to do what I want and I don't really care!!!

To a certain extent I do care what people think. It's nice to get approval from others and have they like what you do.
I think it's normal to seek gratification from others

To an extent...but when I truly believe in something and others disagree, I don't care. I like to be liked (don't most people?), but won't go out of my way to get approval from others.

My husband says it all the time, and I tend to agree - I definitely care what people think - even if I don't want to and I know they're not worth it.
I guess it's my sensitive side, which occasionally takes over. I wish I had more control over it.
BUT - if I get stepped on, that's it. I won't ever go out of my way again. I can be very strong in that situation.
When it came to the wedding, I did care what people thought - but I was doing it for 2, cause DH wasn't into the planning, so it made it that much more intense.

Marnles, you are exactly like me.
I am very sensitive as well, and since Fh is not helping with the wedding I am very concerned with how it will come off.

Yes and no.
The people I want to think highly of me are those that I already think of highly. So essentially if I respect someone or like them for whatever reason, I hope they feel the same way about me.
Other than that, not really.

I'm a combo of Stef & Theresa. I'm all about doing things different - I do for myself and don't really care if people don't approve just because it's not of the 'norm'. But the people that I respect, I do want their respect...

Depends.
For the wedding I dont care what people think, like or dont like. Its not their day, its ours and its what we like. Yes I want everything to be perfect and I want everyone to like what I did, but honestly I could care less if someone doesnt like what I chose for cocktail hour, or doesnt like the table linens I chose. Its my day and that is what matters.
For an interview that I do care. i make sure I look 110% professional because those first impressions are what matter. I care what the person thinks of me because that first impression leaves a lasting impression
For friends if its someone I care about I do care what they think of me. If they are my friend and think my attitude stinks about something or that I am wrong I want them to tell me.
For life: hey its my life I'll do what I want and if you dont like it oh well here is a quarter go call someone who cares

It depends on who it is, the people who I value in my life like my mom, my hubby and my friends, all others are insignificant. You cannot live your life any other way or else you forever try to please others.

I can honestly say that I really do not care what other people think of me. It runs in my family. When it comes to getting a job or something like that, it's different. Professionally, I HAVE to care. But let's say every teacher in the school hates me, I could care less.

Yes, to an extenet I do care what others think, especially at my job. You want to be well liked and reputable at your job, but outside, I dont care becasue if I dont know you...I dont care what you think of me

I care TOO much what people think about me. Im a tough cookie but at the same time hate confrontation. If someone says something to me like constructive criticism, i will think about it for days. I wish I didnt care as much as I do!
