Do you ever feel soo distant from FH? (vent...kinda long...)

Original post by MerSaysEh

Lately FH and I have been running around like crazy people with work/school/wedding stuff and just not seeing each other a lot even though we live together. We never go to bed at the same time and I feel like every single convo we have had in the past week has been either an argument or like housekeeping stuff ('I'm going out to watch football with the guys, feed chewie before you go out with the girls' type stuff). When we are home I try to talk but he just wants to play video games so we either sit on the couch in silence or we are in different rooms. We are trying to make plans to go visit his best friend and his wife (who are both in our BP and we barely get to see) in Boston next weekend and he keeps snapping at me about how he doesnt know the plans yet b/c he doesnt know if the Jets will be playing next weekend and he doesnt want to drive to Boston on a game day and I asked if he just wanted me to call or email the wife and he was so snappy at me and speaking to me like I'm a stupid little kid and he is constantly rolling his eyes at me and I'm just feeling really drained. I'm almost like 'well why am i killing myself planning this wedding if you can't even remember to kiss me goodnight?'

sorry for the vent...ugh....i just feel sad....

i totally understand what you mean!! i'm so sorry you're going through this!! we have gone through MANY bad periods during the time we've been together. i would definitely agree with some of the girls who said you have to find a good time to really let him know how you're feeling and talk about it. it's really important to be able to communicate with each other. and remember that everyone goes through this at some point or another. we can't enjoy the spring if we never experience winter!!

Definitely can relate! We actually just went through this recently, and I was even contemplating calling off the wedding. The key is to make some time for each other. Spend time alone together - no tv, no video games, no family, no friends. We are ALWAYS having people over, I work 3 jobs, he works in the city, and we spend very little time together. Our general routine is, he comes home from work, we eat dinner, he plays video games, I check LIW, I go to bed and about 3 hours later, he comes to bed. But we try to have a date night at least once a month.

Last month was so intense, between wedding planning and the holidays, that we literally spent weeks fighting. We actually went 3 days without even speaking to each other because we were fighting so bad........and we live together! We finally made a date to go out to dinner and discuss what was going on. Now we're both on the same page again. That same weekend, I rented out a hotel room for us for a night just to get away from the world for one night. That's all we needed.

FH and I have been together for 10 years and been living together for 3. It's easy to forget why you're together and start to take everything for granted. You and FH just need to put some 'you' time aside and it'll all work out.

WOW, that took courage to post. I'm actually glad you did because there was a long period of time where that was us too. Well minus the Jets part. LOL Hang in there. Feel free to vent anytime. FM if you need to.

thank you all soooo much for your support. it really helped sooooooo much just knowing i could post here and there would be people who could relate and understand

so to update: i sat on the couch next to him for 15 minutes with silent tears streaming and he didnt notice. he took the dog out and i got ready for bed and then we actually argued about the humidifier! so i get into bed and close my eyes and he says goodnight and leaves the room and literally the second the door closed i BURST into SOBS, loud body wracking sobs. it took about 3 minutes i think for him to realize from the other room what the sound was and he came running back in and asking what was wrong. but he only asked twice and then he sat next to me rubbing my back and once i calmed down he actually said 'i'm so sorry' and i was like for what? and he said flat out 'for being an a**hole the past few days, i dont know what has been wrong with me i havent been sleeping well and i know im taking it out on you and i cant even help it' and i told him i felt like he was avoiding me and i actually was feeling like i didnt feel 100% sure that he still loved me and he felt soo bad and held me for like an hour while i calmed down and fell asleep and this morning again too. so things seem better, you know how boys are in a few days he will have forgotten all about it lol but for now i feel a bit better.

the support and words of advice and understanding actually got me thru last night so thank you all sooooooooooo much!!

I am so happy you cleared the air. Its very natural to take out your bad mood on the person closest to you...sad but true. I'm so happy he realized that.
