Do you ever get the feeling that a vendor is reading your posts?

Do you ever get the feeling that a vendor is reading your posts?

I know that technically they aren't granted access to view other areas of the board, but let's face it, I'm sure anyone who can move around the internet can sign up under another name and IP address to see what's being said and shared.

Don't get me wrong, ALL the vendors I booked, I love and don't feel as if there are watching my posts, but there are a few vendors that I have 'inquired with' that seem to elude to knowing what I'm saying on here. Creepy. But whatever, they won't shut me up anyway, but I was just curious if anyone else felt the same way.

Yes, because I posted a question about one of the vendors I am using (on BHB) and they FM'ed me with their answer to my question. It freaked me out a little bit.

the senior BM at the Westbury Manor actually posted on the WM thread on BHB! I was surprised that she was able to do this, but she answered a pretty big issue.

it's weird b/c it was helpful, but we also talk about strategies on how to get them to add things on for less $$- I am sure they know we do this, but I don't want them to write down on my contract- 'thinks she's slick- no discounted prices!!)

Yeah, it weirded me out a little when I posted on BHB about djs and then got 2 FMs from DJ companies.

Okay, I can expect them to read stuff, but to actually intervene should be a no-no, IMO.

It was actually really helpful - everyone was hearing something different about the capacity of a room. At least we have an answer now.

Yikes!!! I think that's crossing the line. That's kinda creepy knowing they're lurking around.

you dont need to be granted access to view these boards... you actually dont need to sign up to read any of our posts... you only need to sign up in order to write a post... the only area that no one can see without signing up is 'off topic'

I would understand if they were being helpful, but there must be a reason why they are not granted access to the other sections of the boards. I think if they read that, then maybe they should have handled it another way, instead of making a post, as it could make some people uncomfortable (even if they were trying to help). But again, that's just IMO.

Good point! Then why would they purposely not allow vendors to see the other areas of the board, if they can just log off and view them anyway? So strange to me. Unless, they have some sort of restriction on their IP address, but I don't know.

They definately do! I actually wrote an excellent review of one of my vendors and they wrote me to correct my spelling of their website! I mean, it is a valid point but it spooked me a little!

I was told that vendors, when they are logged in with their official vendor sign in, weren't able to see all sections of the board. Maybe they were mistaken, but this was to told to me by a vendor on here.

ETA:: Perhaps this was a long time ago, and maybe they changed it since then, but I wasn't sure.
