FI and I do NOT....he doesn't believe in it....for those that did/aren't living together...how did you handle the whole moving in process? Timing before or after wedding?

we lived together in my apartment. (and now we live together in his parents house). It was a gradual process, spend the night, the week, the month. Definetly learned alot about each other and things we do that annoys the other person. (I learned to just leave the house when he's cooking, or else I flip out at the mess he makes in the kitchen, he's gotten better). he know's I notice everything out of place, so touch non or my stuff.)
Be patient. I am definetly glad we learned that stuff now, so we can enjoy married life.

We didn't live together. We moved into a new place 2 weeks before the wedding. It was crazy but TOTALLY worth the wait. There was nothing I could find out about my DH that would be a deal breaker- we just both wanted to wait- I wanted the fairy tale!

we're going to move in together abut a month before the wedding (if everything goes as planned....) it's going to be a huge change, becuse we live far from each other right now (40 minutes) and so we don't get to see each other all that often. jst the other day he was asking me 'when we live tgether....how are we each going to have alone time?' it'll be a challenge i'm sure! but i like that we're saving it until then....but i'm probably just saying that because it's the only option we have at this point!!! if i could move out of my parent's house tomorrow and get a place with him i'd do it!!!

FI moved into my old basement apt the thanksgiving after 9-11... we were just always at each others houses and his roommate was a pig. So he moved in (we were together 9 months at that point and knew this was it! ... then the next August we got an apt of our own (above ground! YAY). We always say if we could get through living in a basement apt together, we can get through anything!!!! i believe its the way to do it these days... my grandmother even approved of 'living in sin'. You really need to KNOW someone before you get married. and you're on your best behavior when your a guest in the others house.

yes and it was quite a change. We were in a long distance relationship for two years and saw each other once or twice a month. Then I moved to live with him. It is a learning process. I wanted to live together before we got married and I am glad I moved when I did. It would have been too much with the wedding.

TECHNICALLY, we still live together. I mean, my name is on the lease and I pay my portion of the rent and utilities, it's just that I sleep at my parents' house in NY, while he sleeps in our apartment in MA But yes, we lived together for the past year, and when he moves back in December, we will be living with my parents.

we did not until we got married. the first month was very interesting..... but now we have gotten used to eachother's ways. It's all about compromise.

Yes, we bought a house together before we were even 'officially' engaged. We've been living together for over 3.5 years.

Kathy116 - I did pretty much the same thing as you! We bought a house together just about 3 years ago (but only got 'officially' engaged, with the ring and all, this past May). To all of our relatives and friends who knew us well, buying the house together made perfect sense, but the ones who didn't see us very often were shocked! (I've considered us an old married couple for years now!)

We've been living togther for 3 years. There's no way I'd marry someone without living with them first (just my personal feelings.)
I moved into his apartment and we lived there for a year. We then purchased a home and a year after living together in the home, we got engaged. Most people think of us married already, even our parents. Our neighbors will probably be shocked when they see me in wedding garb, since most think we're married!!!!

Same with me Jenny!!! Whenever we go away on vacation we have a limo pick us up at our home...so at one time or another, almost all of our neighbors have seen a limo pull out of our driveway (you can't see our house from the street because it's set so far back, so you just see the limo come out of the end of the and then onto the cul-de-sac), so they all think that one of the limos they saw was for our wedding already!
FI has told me that a few neighbors congradulated him on our wedding when we went to Hawaii (that was over 3 years ago...because they saw the limo).
He didn't correct them either! MEN!

Jenny5150 My neighbors think we were married too. The other day I walked out of my house with my veil to go to my trial and saw my neighbor. She asked what i was doing with the veil and I told her, 'we are getting married in two weeks' She was shocked because she thought we were already married!!
Anyway, yes, we lived together for about 7 months before we got engaged. We got engaged in March and staretd looking for a house and bought one in June and now we are getting married in September!!
Personally, I would not marry someone I did not live with first. There is alot of adjusting to do. I think you learn a lot from someone when you have to sleep next to them every night.
And Palebride, don't worry about 'alone time'. Right now I am upstairs in our office chatting with you gals and he is downstairs in our bedroom watching a movie.

we lived together for a year & a half & then bought a house. our wedding is in (less than) 2 months. i have really loved living with FH & i think it had a very positive effect on our relationship. i think that the adjustment to being married will be much smoother.

I moved into fi's house in Feb. I found it to be a very easy adjustment. Our work hours provide us each with a little seperate alone time during the day. We were more worried about our cats getting along (I had 3, he had 2...that' right, we now have 5!) but amazingly they all got along without a fight. He turned one of the bedrooms into my room where I keep my desk and all my stuff.

we've been living together for 3 1/2 years now. we had both had apartments of our own prior to us moving in together. WE decided we were wasting money on rent w/ 2 apartments when we spent all our time together at one. ah, the good ole days when I actually saw my man!!!
