Do you girls take your E-ring off for certain activities? <to avoid damaging it, not to flirt!! :)>

So this weekend while I was moving I bent a prong and loosened my whole setting. Thankfully everything was ok and I didn't lose the diamond and it was only like $40 to fix.

But it got me wondering, should I be taking it off more often when I do things like go to the gym, move things around the apartment, etc? Do you keep your ring on at ALL times?

Im not a jewlery person so Im clueless with jewlery care and stuff. Its a platinum ring if that helps.

I take my rings off to go to the gym & sleep.

i never ever take my ring off for anything not even cooking. I have fh grnadma's diamond as my center stone. I figured if she could wear it everyday and do eveything with it and it is in perfect condition i shouldn't be resticted to do anyting b/c i have my e-ring on.

Remember when it comes down to it. diamonds are 'stones' yes they are precious but they are durable.

Yes, when I clean or if I am cooking something messy. i also do not put my ring on until my make-up is completely on or until after I spray my hair wirh hair spray. other things, if I go swimming or other sporting events, i leave that sucker at home!!

I only take my ring off when I shower. I still live at home so I am not moving furniture or cooking too much but I am sure when I am married, I will take it off for that stuff.

I love my ring and I never want to take it off. I'd feel to guilty.

I take it off to go to sleep and shower. Sometimes I take it off when I go to the gym too

i'm so dumb b/c before my jeweler told me about all that i would put soap/shampoo etc on b/c i'm thinking, hey if it makes my body clean it makes the ring clean!! (lol) -- here i thought i was doing a good thing!! so when he told me that i was like WHAT?!! so he's like calm down, it's not a big deal just avoid it if you can-- i'm like please check the ring!! is everything ok? i'm SO dramatic!! he gave it a good look over and told me i was crazy

Does this include washing your hands? Like after you get back from the rest room? I would hate to have to think I have to take it off every time I wash my hands!

from what my jeweler told me ANY type of chemical that would be found in soaps (hand and body), shampoo, hairspray, cleaning products-- so pretty much all chemicals are not 'good' for the ring. he's like 'oh i wouldn't do that if i were you! and i always tell my wife not to' and i should have asked him exactly WHAT it does to the ring that's not 'good' but of course i was just like ok anything you say! lol but that's what he said. probably has something to do with the preciousness of the stones and metal... sounds right to me lol

I take it off to sleep, clean (kitchen, car etc), exercise (I don't go to the gym) swim, shower and sometimes cook, if it's messy cooking, not just to boil water and throw pasta in I mean if I have to stuff shells or something.

I take mine off as soon as I get home, but whenever I leave the house for anything I put it back on.

I wear it everywhere. I only take it off to sleep because I have scratched myself a few times

I wear it all the time except to shower and when I sleep...bending prongs is a scarey thought - maybe I should be more gentle with it!

I take mine off when I go to sleep, shower, if I work out but thats really it. I basically wear it all the time.

Hi I am new to this, lol I take my ring off to shower and sleep and I normally do not wear it to the gym

i took mine off for everything in the beginning because i was so careful not to bend, scratch or get it dirty...now i wear it for the most part except cleaning, showering but i have tend to fall asleep with my ring on a few times!!!

I take my ring off to do things around the house (laundry, clean..etc) and definitly when I go to bed.

I'll take my e-ring off when I wash up before bed and leave it off until morning, I also take it off if I go swimming, when I shower and to put lotion on (just for a second)
