Do you have a friend that scams the system?

Original post by jennbaby

Someone who lets say is on welfare & works off the books? This pisses me off, that we have to pay for this crap!

I thinks its horrible. I wish they would all get busted. I pull my hair out sometimes trying to make ends meet some months, and these people just ride the system. I was at Stop and Shop in Holbrook not too long ago, and the woman in front of me paid in food stamps. She took them out of her Luis Vuiton bag (I noticed b/c I never saw a food stamp before...I'm fortunate I guess), both her kids were dressed to the nines. And I'm watching out the window while I was bagging, and sure enough, she gets into a new Pathfinder. UGHHHHHH. I dont get it. And its the brand new one. So its not like she just had a streak of bad luck. Everyone tells me, 'eh, it could have been borrowed, the bag could be fake, etc.' Nah, that $hit was real, and that truck had to be hers.

Jenn, It's even worse when the money is due to your child!!! My son's father....off the books and doesn't pay child support like he should (whenever he feels like it) and they can't garnish his check because 'he is not working'....

I used to love when I did my clinical days at WIC, and the mothers would come in with the top of the line cell phones, nails and hair done, pulling up in new cars! But you cant afford to buy your kid juice??

Or better yet, when they ask for prescriptions for tylenol or other OTC meds from the docs in the ER because then they dont have to pay for them. If you cant afford tylenol for yourself or your child, you probably shouldnt have bought yourself all the gold jewlery you are wearing or those $7 cigarettes you are smoking. One lady once said to me, 'if its free why should I pay for it'. I told her 'just because YOU are not paying for it doesnt mean its free'.

Yes I did, and I don't speak to her anymore. I got tired of getting phone calls while I was at WORK, with her sitting on her A$$ complaining that this check and that freebie hadn't come in the mail yet. Or the best waiting for the grant money she got to pay for college courses and books, to pay for Christmas presents. She never attended ONE class. I'd love to know what happens with that? Don't you have to prove you went to school?

I knew a ton of people in college that were totally scamming the system. It upset me that my parents were paying for college out of their hard earned salaries while these people were getting FULL financial aid - while their parents were hiding money - many of which were VERY well off! - so they drove expensive brand new cars, wore designer clothes AND were spending money like there was no tomorrow.

What upset me the most is a couple of my friends had to drop out because they parents were divorced and mom didn't make enough to help them - but made enough that they couldn't get enough aid to help - these poor kids were working FULL time to try to pay to stay in school -while these scammers were fooling around taking the money that these kids desperately needed - IT IS SICK!

I cant stand this crap. The worst is the people who Drive BMW and wear all designer clothes and big gold chains and yup they are on welfare they use food stamps. You know what the best is food stamps are not little pieces of paper anymore they are on a card (like a credit card) and its called EBT (eltronic bennift transfer)When you swipe the card it comes up with a thing that says food or cash. I work as a cashier right know since I quite my other job. I have this couple that come in all the time and get cash from their ebt card and then buy their beer with it. UMMMM ya so im buying ure beer??????
