Do you have anyone threatening to not come to your wedding?
I have people threatening to not come if we don't invite FH's sister (if she's invited I'M not going), I have people threatening not to come if it's in a church, people threatening not to come if it's NOT in a church, people saying they can't come if it's a saturday, people saying they can't come if it's a sunday..

That is horrible. This day is supposed to be about you and your FI not about them.

Awww... I'm so sorry
You can't make everyone happy, and you shouldn't have to. You should do whatever makes you and FH happy, afterall, its your day, not everyone elses!

thats a horrible thing for people to say. very uncalled for to say the least.
its your day. u have it on the day u want, the time, where, etc. if someone can't go........as my FMIL always says.......'oh well'. oh and if someone says their not going if this person is. then thats one less person to pay for. that's how i would think of it if it was happening to me.
good luck

thats a horrible thing for people to say to you, but this is your day and its not about pleasing anyone but yourself, as hard as that is. i would say, fine dont come. good luck whatever happens.

Isn't your wedding over a year away? how do they know they 'can't come' if it's on a Sat or a Sun already?
Geez, sorry you have to deal with this. Good luck!

don't let anyone threaten or bully you! The are probably just using it as leverage, and if the don't come, it's THEIR LOSS....don't let them cast a shadow on your day!!

Re: Do you have anyone threatening to not come to your wedding?
thanks. I mean the Sat/SUn thing is random people..it's mostly comeing fomr ym in laws..first they said no onewould come aon a saturdya b/c of work, then they're saying people will think it's weird on saturday b/c of shabbat (it will be AFTER sunset).. I don't even CARE about that..like rnadom people who can't take a day off for a sunday or who will suddenly decide to observe shabbat for one day on my wedding day
but his parents have said they would not come if it's in a church and also if we don't invite his sister (that's why they withdrew their offer to help us with $$)...my mom saus she won't come if it's NOT in a church
parents are sort of important. I'm SO tired of them bullying us and I think they'll eventually come around I hope..But I don't need this stress. It's so much on top of another. My dad won't be there and I don't know who will walk me down the aisle, so there's one dream gone, just like that, then if my mom's not there, no parents at all? His parents really know how to make life miserable. And since my dad left we're hvaing added financial problems..so we were really interested in finding out how much FH's parents could help us, and then they turned around and said we weren't getting a cent, now that we need it more than ever, and my dad's out of the picture and my mom has no $$ to eat, much less pay for my wedding.

you poor girl you... Things will get better with a little time, promise Im sure its extremely stressful hearing all of that from everyone, but dont give in. Its your day and it should be your decisions. You cant please everyone and the fact that the inlaws are being like that is ridiculous. Just remember it will be their loss if they choose not to attend and they will be the ones regretting it later on down the road. Best of luck with things.

Why don't you have your ceremony in a neutral place? Everyone will come around.. Do what makes you and FH happy.

that's a good idea...and maybe compromise with 2 officiants.....I am sure it's not the first time in the world this has been done.
I am sorry you are going through this. It's amazing how even our own parents would rather cut off their own noses and not witness their child's joy if they don't get their way!

I am so sorry that both sides of your family's are giving you trouble. They should be looking at it as this is your and FH's day, not where, who, or when your having it, This day is for you and FH's future, starting a whole new beginning of something wonderful. You should sit down with FH and discuss how you both should handle it. Remember this your day, DO WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY and forget everyone else, it's their loss for not attending your wedding. I hope everything works out. Best of luck.

Fh's family is not at qall relgious, and would be fine with a 'neutral location', my mom is extremely relgious, I'm also religious, but my mom is over the top religious and says she won't come if it's not in a church
And the 'give them time' argument doens't work. We've been engaged for well over a year

what did Jesus say about the temple in Jerusalem....maybe your mom needs to be reminded....God is everywhere....you don't need to be in a church to pray and have God bless you or your marriage!

f*ck 'em!! they don't want to come or they are 'threatening' not to come, screw 'em!! why would you want them there anyway? its a no win situation, and its just not worth the aggrevation to you and fh.

I know. I keep telling my mom according to church rules I can get married just about anywhere since FH is not catholic, and why are her rules more important than the vatican itself? we'll see
it's hard enough to come ot decisions among ourselves being interfiath, without everyone e;se's pressure
