I can just about boil water and thats about it. Well....actually I can do the basics. But wouldnt know what to do to actually cook a real meal for entertaining guests like my IL's in the future.
We got so many things from our engagment party. Pots, Pans, etc. I just feel like I have all this stuff waiting for me to get crackin' and have no clue what to do with it. lol Anyone else feeling this way?
I aspire to be a great cook someday, but even with the cookbooks I have on my registry (three of them) I can't help but worry.

Re: Do you know how to cook?
I love cooking, I taught myself when I lived alone in DC. Get the Joy of Cooking. Its a great cook book to learn to cook. It explains everything. For example, if a recipe tells you to fold, you can look in the reference section and it explains exactly how to fold, step by step. Its really the best book to use to learn to cook.

I actually love to cook. I think anyone can learn. I would say just experiment and have fun. It's not so much a science except some types of baking. You can do it!! (says the cooking cheerleader)

Re: Do you know how to cook?
I learn to cook 1yr ago when we moved in together... now FH love my food and I have to say I do a pretty decent job (even thought FH have had some of my disaster food).. I always (and I mean ALWAYS) check online for recipes of everything (even how to boil a hard egg because I threw out 4 eggs because I took them out before they where ready ) MY favorite website is kraftfood.com, easy recipes and simple directions

Re: Do you know how to cook?
I'm lucky that my mom is a great cook and since I was little I've been right there next to her learning how to cook....
I believe if you just start with a few simple recipes you can build from there !!

I love to cook. I kind of taught myself, although both parents are awesome cooks. I cook about 5 nights a week.. then one night we go out and the other we usually eat with my parents and sis and bro in law and stuff...

Not a licking! I boil water and sometimes I forget I'm even boiling it! I can't be trusted with cooking Although I did make dinner for FH a couple of weeks ago - first time I made meatloaf (I know, and that's, like, the easiest thing to make!). He loved it! Maybe I should get in to this cooking thing

I love to cook!
But keep your eye out for cooking classes...they are always @ a boces or even the library. My girlfriends and I take them together just for fun (& make it even more fun with a bottle of wine...lol). It's our little girls' night out without going out.

Re: Do you know how to cook?
I love to cook. I am always trying new things and FH LOOOVES my cooking, so thats good! I never really cooked before and one day I decided to give it a whirl and found out i was naturally pretty good at it. My grandfather and my dad are really good cooks so I guess it just runs in the family. My most recent accomplishment - Indian food.
