I can just about boil water and thats about it. Well....actually I can do the basics. But wouldnt know what to do to actually cook a real meal for entertaining guests like my IL's in the future.
We got so many things from our engagment party. Pots, Pans, etc. I just feel like I have all this stuff waiting for me to get crackin' and have no clue what to do with it. lol Anyone else feeling this way?
I aspire to be a great cook someday, but even with the cookbooks I have on my registry (three of them) I can't help but worry.

I didn't know I would but when FH and I moved in together I really started to like cooking. Yes I have had a few screw ups, but overall I think I do pretty well and am not afraid to try more complicated recipes. I can't wait to get all the nice new kitchen stuff at our shower.

Yes, i grew up with a mother who is anamazing cook. She can make anything rock! So i guess i kept my ears & eyes opened when i was kid. And if imnot sure i just ask her. Also, im from a huge italian family where food & cooking means everything. If i didnt knwo how to cook i would probably be shot! hahahahaha J/K!

i cook all the time but the only thing that stinks about that is fh brother & my brothers always come over too eat like everyday and leave a huge mess for me to clean

I love to cook - too bad I work 70 hours a week so the last thing on my mind is turning the stove on when i get home. I told FH he needs to make more $$ so I can quit my 2nd job and cook dinner. LOL. I get a lot of my recipes from the food network - they're pretty simple. They also have a show called 'how to boil water' and its basic recipes for ppl who are just learning how to cook. good luck!

I love to cook and bake! I am actually good at it too, go figure lol! I love to find new recipes. I go on foodtv.com, which is the food network's website. They have great recipes and super easy ones too. Look into Paula Deen recipes. SHE IS FABULOUS!

I am so intimidated when it comes to thinking about cooking. I'm afraid I'll ruin or burn everything. I've been trying to catch those food network and cooking shows to just watch and hope that one day it will come in handy.
I keep telling FH to be brave.

You ladies are lucky you had mothers and grandmothers who had you in the kitchen helping and watching at an early age. I think the fact that I didnt do any of that has contributed to this fear of cooking for me.

You will be fine!!! I absolutely love love love to cook!!! You can always look up recipes for free on recipezaar.com it really is such a great site. The best par is people review the recipes and leave comments on ways to make them better. I always change them to make them my own.

That could very well be. My mother didn't really teach me much about cooking, it was always my grandma which I was happy about because she is a way better cook than my mother .

me too!! When FH asks me what am I making for dinner I say a phone call!!! LOL THANK GOD he is an AMAZING cook he can make a gourmet meal out of anything!!!

I can cook very well, its sort of a requirement in my family. Just practice and you will get better at it. start with small simple things then work your way up to big meals.

My mom taught me how to cook and when i moved to college i became very popular really fast bcuz of my cooking skills! lol i still love to make new things and i LOVEEEE to bake! at first it will be hard but the more you do it the easier it gets

I feel like I need a crash course from the very basics like what to do with the chicken, steak, turkey as soon as I buy it from the store. After unwrapping I assume you wash them all off. Then how do you know how long to cook things and what type of way to cook them? Ahh I have a million questions.

I can cook. But, I know how to make like 3 or 4 complicated meals. FH says with the potential I have, I can be one kick a$$ cook! However, FH is an OUSTANDING cook. He makes crazy gourmet dishes.

If Im stressed or upset, cooking just relaxes me. I love being creative in the kitchen. And I watch Food Network 24/7!!!!

For my shower, I've asked a close friend of mine who definitely is an amazing cook to put together an album with her recipes in it for me. Hopefully they'll be easy to follow.

I CANNOT cook....... FH neither. i could only make waffles, eggs, french toast, pancakes..... i think that's it! is that bad? we just LOVE to eat!
