Do you let other women try on your e-ring?

Original post by the future mrs m

Fh and I had ths convo last night. I personally don't think I would ever let someone try on my e-ring. I've met strangers who do this all the time. When you compliment them they are like 'you wanna try it on?'

Have you ever let anyone try on you ring? I am so superstitious sometimes. I would be freaked out and think it was bad luck. hmmm..

I would never even take the ring off for someone to try on. If in the exchange it fell and got lost I'd die. No need for anyone else to wear my ring. Somoene made me do this once b/c her ring was a smaller size than mine and she was insisting our fingers were the same size. I personally didn't want to do it for one more reason - what if the ring gets stuck on the other person's finger? No need for anyone else to wear your ring but you is JMO.

Yeah I don't care. I wouldn't let a complete stranger try it on but anyone else is fine.

NO!!!

Thankfully no one has ever asked...but I wouldn't let then.

Absolutely. Friends and family can try it on if they want, I don't see why not. I don't believe in it being bad luck. If they really wanted to, who cares IMO. I liked being able to see what it looked like from the perspective of the other person anyway. But if an absolute stranger asked though, I'd find it very strange, and I'd say no.

Absolutely not. NO ONE will ever wear that ring (and my wedding rings) but me.

I'm not superstitious about it - but I don't believe in letting anyone else wear or try on my engagement or wedding rings. They are sacred to me like that.

I let others try it on, but it never fits them. I wear a size 4.5

for me, absolutely not! DH gave it to ME and it was meant for ME. i would feel like if someone else put it on that they are taking something away from me. call me territorial. i had a friend ask me once if she could try it on and i just looked at her like she had 3 heads. i told her no, but she knows how nuts i am!

This reminds me of when I was in high school....boys used to have this scam going on where they would go up to a girl touch her bracelet, ring, necklace etc and be like 'oh this is so nice, can i hold it?' And then the girl, flustered by the attention, would hand it over to them to look...and the boys would then run.....!!!!
This went on for years in my High School...the boys would sell them off or give them to other girls...and I went to a nice Catholic School !!!

I've let me friends, family, and co-workers try it on. I totally take it as a compliment and kind of enjoy seeing it sparkle on someone elses hand. I wouldn't let a stranger try it on or someone I didn't trust.

i let women in my family try it on and a few close friends - never a stranger and never out in public where it could fall and get lost or stolen!

I have tried on my cousin's and sister's etc. and i always loved to try on other people's e rings so of course i would let them try mine on

i am superstitious though so i never HAND it to them - i put it down on a table and they have to pick it up from there and they return it the same way. I also never let anyone put it on my finger besides FH - the jeweler always tries to do that after i get it cleaned or inspected!

I've taken it off so people can see the details since it is etched all around the band.
Never had anyone ask to try it on, nor have I ever asked to try on someone else's. Think it is bad luck.

I honestly never had anyone even ask...didn't realize this was so common. But if they did ask, I don't think I would yes. That's a little weird....

fh just reminded me AGAIN that he better never see me letting someone else try it on. :)
he said i'm broke b/c i wanted to put a ring on YOUR finger not someone else's! He's hilarious and so protective.

I let my cousin try it on-- I knew she wouldn't get it past her knuckle!
I wouldn't go around offering that!

They say it is bad luck for a single girl to try on someone elses e-ring-- but it's not bad luck for you to let someone try it on

No, I have not ask anyone to try on my e-ring and no one has asked me to try my e-ring on.
