I am not married yet, but as I get closer I keep thinking that soon I will have a new name, it still sounds so weird to me when I say it aloud. I wonder how long it will take to get used to it, right now I dont like it as much as my 'real' maiden name.

I love my last name!!! His name is a good name. So I don't mind to much. But, when your from a large Irish family you will ALWAYS be known by your maiden name. No matter if it's 50 myears from now!

Re: Do you like your 'new' married name?
I didn't like my last name and I don't like his either (a hard to spell German name). But I love sharing a name with him. Once in awhile, I slip and say my maiden name. I still think of his mom when I hear Mrs. R...

Re: Do you like your 'new' married name?
I have a close bond with my Irish maiden name, but since it's now my middle name, I'm ok with it. I do love my new shorter Maltese name!! Much easier to pronounce and spell
I too love the fact that we have a shared name -although I sometimes feel like we're playing house

I'm actually going to like my new last name. The only problem is is that people ALWAYS say it and spell it wrong!

Stacey: I did the same thing! I took my maiden name and made it my middle. I love it that way, but now I'm regretting getting rid of my original middle name. Is it too much to have 2 middle names?

Both ouir names are pretty simple so it won't be much of a stretch- I do get sad about losing mine, though!

I don't hate his last name, but it just doesn't fit with my first name.

I'm the only girl on my dads side of the family that will be getting rid of the family name. My brother and my cousins will carry it on. I like what my new name will be, I guess I will just have to get used to it. It's going to be shorter and very Italian!

Re: Do you like your 'new' married name?
My 'new' name is FAR easier to say and pronounce than my maiden name, but I miss my Italian last name, and my vowel.

Re: Do you like your 'new' married name?
I am not happy about changing my name. My maiden name is OK but my new name has a stigma attached to it. There are millions with this name and there will be no question whether I am jewish or not. I am the only person in my family with my maiden name...I am going to find a way to keep it while taking my fiances name.

Re: Do you like your 'new' married name?
I had a sitcom maiden last name and married someone from another sitcom last name family!! I kept my maiden name as my middle name, but I never use it. I have fully moved on and accepted my new last name. Now it's weird to hear someone call me by my maiden name.
My new last name double in size though and with a first name with 8 letters, I have a loooonnnngggg name now!

Re: Do you like your 'new' married name?
I have an extremely easy new last name - and I like it a lot. Although my maiden name wasn't difficult! What I WISH is to change my FIRST NAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
