do you live with your FH?

Just wondering. . . . . . I am thinking about moving in!

any advise?!

I will live with him once he finds a job here, but I've lived with a boyfriend before.

My advice is to make sure you give yourself some alone time. Living with someone can tempt you to spend every waking moment with them and you can forget about yourself...you need to take time to do things just for you so you don't feel smothered/stifled.

Then again I broke up with that guy so that might only be a symptom of my bad relationship.

Yup, we moved into our first apartment together in December 2006. We just bought a house together this past summer.

I do however agree with Ilana that you need your time too. I went away to college for 4 years (even though FH and I did a long distance relationship) and had my 'me' time there. But you don't want to lose your own identity just because you're living with FH.

I still make sure to have my girls nights every so often now too. I'l kick FH out to go to one of his friends houses, and the girls will come over and hang out. Or, the guys will all come here and the girls will go out. And we are lucky enough that all of our friends are in couples and are all mutual friends anyway.

I had never lived with a man before (except my dad, who doesn't count) and all I can say is I was not prepared. It was really rough in the beginning - he had never lived away from home before, whereas I went away to school and lived in Europe, so it was eye-opening. He had to really learn how to be a domestic partner, haha, but now we have it down to a science!! I never wanted to live with my husband before marriage, but now I am so glad we did. There were major obstacles that we overcame and it really helped proved to me that we were ready for this next step.

I think its a great experience and will only make your married life and adjustments easier.

No we do not live with one another. He lives in the Bronx and I live out on the island. We usually plan for one of us to spend the weekend at the other's place. Actually, Saturday we were talking about what are we going to do about a place of our own.

We went to a friends house who has a beautiful cape home in South Baldwin and FH loved it. So he is like leaning more towards a coop but a small home would be nice as well. We'll see.

I must agree whole-heartedly with this. It is AMAZING the things you learn about people when you live with them. Living with FH has given us the opportunity to iron our all of our little quirks in advance. Like how he leaves his dirty clothes on the floor every morning...............

We own a house together
Bought it last May

Before that we lived together in his mothers basement.

I moved in with him 6months after meeting him.

But before I moved in we spent almost every night together anyway. lol

we live together! It is good and bad for reasons already mentioned. Good because you can learn to live together, what your FHs quirks are, how clean they are etc. However, sometimes I wish I didnt because I think it would be more special after we are married. JMO. If you do move in together, I do recomend that you have your own time to yourselves. FH and I spend alone time every night. If we saw each other 24/7 I think we would kill each other. Also,we also should really go out with our friends seperately more.

We have a few nights a month when we go out without each other and between school and work we both have enough me time. We've lived together so long at this point that it works.

One of my best friends said the same exact thing - she has been married for 4 years! Se also said that things are different once you get married!

My FIL's parents built us a new apartment, last year, my Fh has been living there - We want to move in - but my mom keeps telling me that it won't be 'special' after the wedding!
I really want to move in!!!!

It's good to know that things are still going to be different and special after we are married! Right now we are in my co-op, but we are looking to find a place we can officially call 'ours' - good luck!!
