Do You Really Need Inner And Outer Envelopes?

Hi, just curious, is this really necessary? I really don't wanna have to go out and buy 100 more envelopes to serve as outer ones. Anyone?

the outer envelope has the addresses on it and the inner just has the people's names.
u can do w/out the inner envelopes.

i don't have inner envelopes, i think its also to keep the invitations nice, so they don't get messed up in the mail

You don't NEED them. The reason for them is because the outer envelope is addressed formally: 'The Smith family' or 'Miss Anna Smith'. Then the inner specifically states names of those invited 'Mike, Kelly, Jack and Dayna' or 'Anna and Guest'. This way people know if their children are invited or if they are allowed to bring a guest. But, I can tell you a lot of people don't pay attention anyway.

i agree. i had inner and outer but we just got DH's cousins wedding invite and she didnt and you know what, i didnt even notice until JUST now. it's really just a preference on how formal you want the invite to be.

I had the outer envelopes and just rsvp envelopes.

I personally think inner envelopes are over the top and totatlly unnecessary.

Inner envelopes aren't necessary...they are for more traditional invitations.

we didn't use inner envelopes. We have a pocketfold invite, and it wasn't necessary. Even if you don't have a pocketfold, it's not necessary

Thanks girls! You guys have just saved me a trip to the stationary store! :D

I'm putting together my invite now and it's coming out so lovely! Can't wait for everyone to see it, I've learned so much and if anyone has questions about DIY invites, I'm here to help! Monograms, thermo printing, envelope printing, you name it! :D
