I ALWAYS feel like I'm still 13 or something, and I'm just playing along in this cool grownup game where I have a husband, nice house, good job, and now a dog Seems kinda silly - I just turned 26 but I swear I still feel like a little kid! It's wierd too, because I think I'm the only who feels like this, and everyone knows how to act all adultish. I almost wish there was some kind of how-to manual on acting your age - because I feel like everyone I know tries to act older than they really are - or maybe I'm just immature and everyone else grew up??? Am I completely nuts, or does anyone else feel like this? Thanks for humoring my random question of the day!

All I can say is WORD! I'm playing dress-up! Make-believe! This is all a meticulously constructed game designed to make me believe that I'm a grown up. Well, I don't feel like one! I feel like I'm 14 and borrowing my older sisters' clothes and shoes!
Part of me is still waiting for study hall.

Re: Do you still feel like a kid?
I definitely feel like a kid...I love to be silly and have no regard for how a person of my age is supposed to act...
But, I want my cake and I want to eat it too! I'm 28 years old, but I look very young and I have a tiny voice, plus I'm very non confrontational. People think I'm so young all of the time and I fear don't take me seriously. Not a very good position to be in as a press officer. I once had to tell the deputy editor of Talk magazine that my dancers were NOT getting into a bathtub naked whether Tina Brown wanted them to or not!! completely decked out in my jeans, sneakers and pony tail! The other day when I told a colleague that I was 28 she nearly fainted - she thought I was interning or something! She thought I was a baby bride! I know it's only going to get worse when I have kids. And I've said I'm never going to have a 'woman' phase. I'm going to go straight from looking like a little girl to an old woman!!
Anyway, although I feel so young, I know I have tons of experience and when I talk about dance, I know what I'm talkign about, DAMMIT!
I just wish people would take me seriously, while I'm making silly faces!

SO GLAD I'm not the only one!!!! I too have a baby face and people NEVER believe me when I tell them I'm 26 and married! I'm also non-confrontational, unless absolutely necessary as a last resort! On top of that, I'm a petite 5'4, so being short, looking young, and a pacifist at heart - I'm alwasy afraid that no one takes me seriously either... ARGH - oh well, I'll continue playing my grown-up game until someone finds me out

OMG me too, I'm 5'1' and very tiny so everyone automatically assumes I'm like 16 or something! But being this small my whole life caused me to become fairly outspoken.
I actually go out of the way to NOT wear sneakers in public because I want people to think I'm older and take me seriously!!

I totally feel like a kid! I think I'm playing house or something. I feel like I'm trapped between childhood and adulthood. DH and I are really silly together and can be immature, and I love it!
I also look very young. People are always shocked to hear that i'm 25 and married!!

Re: Do you still feel like a kid?
I still feel like a kid. And I think a lot of people see me as very young too. I have been with my company for 5 years and no one can believe it.
I also act young and am the younger sibling so I think that affects the way I am viewed. I have noticed that friends who are the same age but are the older sibling sometimes appear older than their peers.
I also think I come across young because I lived at home with my parents after college. I am nonconfrontational and more funloving than business-like

You make a good point. I'm the younger sibling by 10 1/2 years, so I have always been babied. Also, I lived with my parents after I graduated college until I got married in June. I am also very nonconfontational!

Re: Do you still feel like a kid?
I still feel like a kid, even though I went to boarding school at 13, then went away to college, so was on my own for a while (26 now). I still have the tendency to call my mom with problems or when I don't feel well! And I SO do not feel at all ready to be responsible for kids! Or even a dog!

That's exactly how I feel. Idont' thik I look a younfg a some of you, but I'm not sure how other peopel see me. I am heavy, which usually makes peopel sem older, bt i thikn it gves me a baby face, and I stil break out 7 anever feel 'put together' like other women I see on the train.
And besides how I look , I dodn't 'feel ' like an adult. I am very indecisive & I feel like to be an adult, I'd have to be able to make decisions without always waiting for other people's opinion, which I am SO not good at.

Re: Do you still feel like a kid?
I am so glad others feel this way! I dont feel my age and I guess thats great. I still get proofed @ bars (shhh dont tell anyone..Im gonna be 30 in May ) When people find out I'm married, and married 5 years they are like wow, you got married young ( I was 24). I work with 2 year olds. I dont act 2 but I defintiley feel younger than I am.

Re: Do you still feel like a kid?
Absolutely! People always tell me...but I thought you were 19 after I tell them I will be 27. Even our priest told me I was too young to get married...until I told him how old I was. I do feel like I am playing house. I look at DH and can't believe he is 32...I guess I just thought I would feel older once we got to this age...and I don't...at all.

Re: Do you still feel like a kid?
I feel like I should be about 16. Even though I am older than the other girls i my office by 2-3 years, I still feel like they act older, more confident and more argumentative.

Re: Do you still feel like a kid?
This is exactly why I think I have no business having a kid!! I still am a kid!!! I feel like I'm school will be starting up again any day now and my 'vacation' of playing house and wife will be over!! DH is always telling me I need to 'grow up' (he's only 31 - yeah like he's some old fart) and I say never! Then I start singing the Toys r us song...
Oh lordy lordy... my poor child!

Re: Do you still feel like a kid?
I have to agree with this! I'll be 30 in November, and people think I'm an 8th grader, not an 8th grade teacher!!! And I have to say - I feel like i'm still so young.....which is probably why it's so hard for me to turn 30 this year...i can't accept the fact that I could be entering that decade.....
