Do you think its tacky???

Original post by jsta76

I have no idea what the plans are for my bridal shower since my MOH wants to keep is a BIG secret (I hate secrets).

However, I was thinking about giving my sister/MOH 20% off BB&B coupons to include with the invitations. I have a TON of them at home just sitting around and I could never use all of them.

What do you guys think?

please please PLEASE don't do this... IMO that is SO tacky. including where you are registered is fine, but PLEASE don't have your MOH include coupons with the invites! give them to her instead, and as people rsvp she can offer them a coupon or two if they want to use them.

I am doing it...my mom is a nut and she is writing a little poem about how the stingy bargain hunter is getting married and has registered at BB & B and is so stingy she's included a coupon...I want it to be funny...and hey, it might encourage people to buy off the registry!

lol thats great!!! btw how do u guys get so many of those coupons??

If you ever want any, let me know...they put about 25-30 in the front of my apt. building every week...plus the mail! I have a drawer full!

do the mail people know u personally? LOL

and i might have to take u up on that offer when it gets closer to my wedding haha

In my apt. complex you walk in and to the right are our mailboxes, every single night we come home to a stack (enough for the building) of something...pennysavers, flyers, etc. and there are ALWAYS BB &B coupons....I'm in heaven...

Also keep in mind bed bath accepts competitors coupons as does fortunoff. I just bought a gift for a friend at fortunoff and used my unexpired bed bath and beyond coupon.

Also bed bath takes their own expired coupons, other stores don't take the expired ones from competitors (just the new ones),

WOW I didn't know fortunoffs accepted them too. Thats interesting. I didn't register there because I thought they were too pricey and I don't think I've ever seen coupons.

yeah fortunoff doesn't have their own coupons but if you bring in an unexpired bed bath or linens and things coupon they will take it. They have a manager sign off on it while you are at the register which if you are in a rush (like I was when I went) it can be annoying but it's worth it for the savings!

Oh cool- I knew BBB and L&T took each others coupons, but I didn't know fortunoffs took BBB coupons. Yah!

They drop them off in bundles at my apt. complex...I have tons....I may make a joke of it as everyone knows how I love deals....

tacky or not...everyone loves a coupon...or at least I do....

You are too much as always....wish I coulda been there to see you on Sat!!!!

I'm just worried that people might think i'm FORCING it on them. Like they have to go with BB&B. I'm the type that I don't care where they buy the gift as long as they are getting a good deal.

I don't think its forcing it on anyone at all. You wouldn't think putting a registry card in the invite was tacky, right? People expect it nowadays. So, what is the diff if thre is a coupon too. For our e-party- everyone bought off the registry(except 1). I think peple would rather buy of fthe registry b/c they know it something you will like and it's a lot easier to pick out a gift.

I say go for it. It's not tacky.

I would just give them to your MOH and if anything she can offer them to ppl who may need them.

Good idea

I agree!

i would really suggest not doing this - just give the coupons to your MOH and she will pass them along to whoever she sees. . . there is just something about it that doesn't sit well with me

I don't think everyone gets them. In the past when I needed one I could NEVER find them.

I think i'm just going to give them to my sister and tel her to do what she wants with them. If she wants to send with the invite, she can if not, maybe pas them on. The only person that prob wouln't need them is her SIL who happens to be an asst buyer for BB&B (soooo wish I could get her discount).

Def dont include them with the invitations... Its basically like telling people 'buy me a gift'

If any registry talk come up between your guests and those throwin the party, tell them to say they have extra coupons if they would like them... and then if the guests are interested, then have them mail them separately if needed ...

Hope that makes sense!

NONONONO I would NEVER send them with the wedding invitation, i'm talking about the bridal shower which technically isn't my responsibility (but I know people will be buying gifts).
