I don't think he LOVED Nora but he def had some kind of feelings towards her. He treated her alot better than he did with Franny in some small ways.
I think he treated her differently than Franny was because she did not give him a hard time about anything and because in her own way she liked it.
In beginning it was a game for him; however, I think he really began to fall for Nora. Unlike Franny, I think he respected Nora. Franny gived her love, body, and soul to him immediately, she was no challenge for him. She did everything he wanted her to do even when she didn't want to, and he was disgusted by that.
I think he did fall for Nora. She almost became his equal in some ways and I think that was something that he wasn't used to before. Whether it was love or more of an obsession type thing I don't know. But there were definitely more feelings there than there were for Franny.
I think we can use a very loose sense of the word love in this situation with Nora and M. In his own way, I think that M was astonished that Nora was able to 'call him up' at his own game. I think just like the s&m was a deep routed seed inside Nora, M realized that Nora brought his deep routed seed which was that he could finally not get over on someone. She stood her ground and although she feared him many times, did what she felt she had to do. I think to M, this was something that he had never experienced before and in return, fell for her or what she did to him.
At times I thought he really did love her but he was so twisted, I am not sure if that was an emotion he was really capable of.
