Last night FH and I came up with what the song that we want to come out to at the Reception hall... FH is a major Star Wars freak and we've decided on the Star Wars theme music.... (It's really great to come out to - loud, fun and exciting) The guys were going to keep those 'light savers' under their jackets and when we are finally out, when they do the arch.. they're going to take them out and we'll walk underneath. Everyone I've told, has loved it... thought it would be a cute and fun idea.
What are you thoughts?

Sounds like a fun idea and fitting to your DH's personality - but one question - how big/long are the sabers? - your groomsmen still have to escort the BMs into the room and that might look weird having long light sabers sticking out of their jackets

The GM at the wedding I went to on Sat on the clapseable ones. These are the ones they had. When closed they look like this When opened they look like this
Unless everyone knows that your DH is a big Star Wars fan, I wouldn't do it. I don't think your reception entrance is the time to tell them if they didn't already know it.
But personally I wouldn't do if he was either so take that with a grain of salt. I like the originality of the idea, I just don't think the music is what you really would want to come in to. It's not a party starter, IMO.

I think its cute.. im not a star wars fan myself, but FI is obsessed. Actually friends of ours are doing that exact thing.. they got light sabers at target.

The music itself is very powerful and fun to walk into... I really think it will get everyone going! This is the part of the reception that is supposed to be fun. I don't want it to be serious at all... I think the song/music that you come in to sets the whole mood!!!

Somehow I too got roped into the Star Wars theme - but for our bridal party. I think the light sabers are cool too, friends of mine did that a few years back - big hit

I say it really depends on your perosnal taste. I think it is corny and I am sure some of your guests will too. Then again some of them will probably like it, so do whatever makes you happy.

I think its cute. Your entrance should be personal and creative. You could have everyone in the arch touch light saber tips so that the top of the arch is all lighted. Use different color light sabers. They probably come in red, green, and blue.

My FI and I are having a medieval theme wedding, almost lord of the rings type. We are wearing medieval clothing, are guest are welcome to dothe same. My FI and I are both carring swords and we are playing medieval music as well. So Why not do a star wars theme? go with the light savors and the whole nine yards! Have fun! but i wouldn't recomend doing your hair has princess Leahia.

I say go for it! It's your and your FH's day - and really, as a DW, I now regret the hours I spent during wedding planning agonizing over what random faceless people would think about details that I and my DH liked. Your close friends and family will think it's cute and fun, since they know you two, and if a random guest or two thinks its weird, so what? Just as an FYI - my DH loves Indiana Jones, and for the garter toss, he wore the hat (which I got him for Christmas ) and they played the Indiana Jones theme when he went under my dress. I thought it was funny - and my family raved about how funny it was. The people who knew us loved it, because it was very much us. Own your wedding day - and have fun with it!
