Do you think this is right.....

ok my hubby friend and fiance are getting married in june and me and the fiance have become ok friends with planning wedding together.

but i think this is so messed up. her mom has offered to give them $15,000.00 towards the wedding ONLY if the is no ALCOHOL at the wedding what so ever. The couple does drink. her mother also told her that if there was alcohol that neither her or someof the family wouldnt attend.

i understand her mom doesnt agree with people drinking but i dont think you should be waving money over your daughters head to get your way. There is not even allowed a cash bar or champagne to toast.

And what bothers me if that she is complaining about this to me, but wont confront her mom.

if it was her and her soon to be husband decision i dont think anybody would question it and just respect there wishes

we jus think her mom is being a b$#%*

just to get her way

wow!!!! that is a horrible request and dirty trick to get her way!!!!!!
I would caution any money with strings attached cuz those strings tend to multiply quickly.....
no alcohol, then no this or no that or have it here and dont do that, etc........

I wonder if there is a deeper reason for this .... maybe a religious or cultural reason that her Mom is anti-alcohol? Or maybe someone in the family is an alcoholic?

Money with strings like that is just not right though ...

I would tell her that she can keep her money. I wouldn't ever take money with strings attached for any reason.

thats horrible.. what kind of mother would do that...its all done for the child's best interest not hers...doesnt she want to see her child happy? she should put aside all of her requests, rules & regulations just for that one special day at least..... My mother is a devoted religious person, doesnt drink doesnt dance doesnt party, but if she came up to me with some sh**t like that, she would forget she has a daughter..
