Re: Do you think this is rude??

it is a 'THEME' bridal shower. Its not any differant than asking people to bring a certain kind of wine or a basket of candles because they are doing a THEME. people do that, personally I think it is a great idea, especially if they are having a lot of people come in from out of town, and she wants to spend more quality time with her friends and family.

I see a lot of bridal showers, and half the time the only ones paying attention are the little ladies in the front, the rest are talking and laughing amonst themselves, wondering when this show will be over.

The last bridal shower I went to the bride got so upset that no one was paying attention to her when she was opening gifts, that she stopped in the middle and said ' thank you all very much, but I can see that this is not what everyone is enjoying now, so I will open the rest later' and walked out. Do you really want that to happen at your shower??

Each person has their own reason and opinion, but for everyone to say that its tacky and they cant believe that they would request this, or that you actually have to go out and buy cellephane( you have to go out and buy wrapping paper too!) is little much. JMHO

What I think is 'rude' and 'tacky' is when there are so many gifts to open so the bridesmaids have to open the gifts and hand them to the bride! My display shower had all of my gifts displayed around the house in beautiful gift baskets with the cards attached from who they were from...It was so much fun for everyone to walk around and really get to see everything that I got, instead of me sitting there flying through opening up gifts...I got to take the time to ohh and ahh over all of my gifts without wasting precious hours that I spent with family and friends who came in my honor!! Again, its a personal decision and to use the words 'rude' and 'tacky' only show ignorance! Just because its different doesn't mean its bad!!

Perfectly said! I would love to do this!

I think it is a little weird also. Personally I love to wrap presents and make them look fancy! Understandable wrapping in clear would be faster, but where's the fun? Although showers get boring, I think that people are excited for the bride to open their gift and be surprised. Showers are boring but unfortunalty they are a fact of life.

Re: Do you think this is rude??

Okay but let me just say this... I'm guessing that they're doing the shower this way because THE BRIDE wants it that way. It is after all, the brides shower isn't it?? With all the wedding planning and all the things along the way that the bride has to compromise on or do because his/her parents say so (or because tradition says so), if the bride wants her shower this way... what is the harm? To each their own, but not everyone wants the same old boring shower. It may not be how you would do it or how i would do it, but its HER shower. Everyone does things differently and people should respect that instead of judging it. JMO.
