Why would she want this? So your friend sees all of hers before she opens them? What fun is that? Plus then people have to go out of their way to pick up cellophane or something.

My boss was just complaining that his wife was invited to a shower were everyone was requested to dress in all winter white. So not only does she need to buy a gift, she needs to buy a special outfit. Then again for the wedding, a gift and dress.
I would SO wear red!!!! just to be a beeyotch to people like that
O black...the complete opposite! I wouldn't be able to dress in all white - I don't own white pants.

NO, I do NOT think that is rude at all. I think that is actually a nice idea. She is just trying to save her guests from having to sit there for 2 hours opening gifts. Come on, who really loves sitting there for that long. As long as the bride would not mind actually unwrapping gifts, i think it is a nice idea.

I too am into the display showers and want my own like that. I do not want everyone staring at me while I open presents. Its not that fun on the receiving end either. Display showers you do get to mingle and talk to everyone-I think its fun!

I don't think it's rude...but I do think it's weird...I'm not sure I would even understand that if I read it....'wrap in clear?'

Re: Do you think this is rude??
I have been invited to a shower where the invite requested that all gifts be cellophane wrapped....whaaa?
I have a few notions about this:
1-Now EVERYONE else gets to see what you got, and they now have even less interest when you are opening your gifts because they can already see everything!!!
2-makes games like bingo out of the question
3-I had to suffer through dozens of showers where I had to sit through the ceremonial 'opening of gifts', so now it's everyone else's turn o see me. (And my BMs were superfast anyway)
4- It is a little 'strange' in my opinion, but maybe the bride requested it, so therefore, who really cares.
5-The shower I went to, someone gave a rolling bar cart, we all thought it was the caterer's!!!!1
6-And lastly, I still wrapped my gift! It was free from Fortunoff!

you are so right, back in the day, you got what you got, no registry. Now we register and tel everyone what we want, and send out little cards for it, and now we have gone so far as to specify as to how we would like it wrapped!?!?!?!?
How do you wrap a kick in the a-s-s???

Definitely rude. It's is never appropriate to assume people will bring gifts. Even if it's a shower.
