why would she want everything wrapped in clear wrap? most of the fun while opening gifts is to see what you got!

I actually went to a shower where they did this and I thought it was bizarre. However, there were soooooo many people at this shower it would've taken 8 hours just to open the gifts.

I don't like that idea at all! I love to open presents, what is the fun if you can see them already. I think that idea is rude.

It's rude, but maybe she doesn't plan on opening them, and just wants to see what she's getting. Which in itself is rude!!

I don't see the sense in that, why wrap at all then? She should also be lucky she's getting something, if she doens't want to unwrap everything she can wait until she gets home to do so.

I think its rude to request anything specific when it comes to gifts.

My boss was just complaining that his wife was invited to a shower were everyone was requested to dress in all winter white. So not only does she need to buy a gift, she needs to buy a special outfit. Then again for the wedding, a gift and dress.

IMO, that's ridiculous. If anything, ask that gifts NOT be wrapped. What's the point of wrapping in clear???

i only recently heard of this and my response is HUH?? no point, why wrap at all?? i mean, at this point, why not just drop the gift off at the B2B's house.....so, yes, its rude

I have heard of this. I for one, don't mind. I hate sitting through the gifts. I will open mine in a hurry. I rather spend the time talking with my friends and family, especially those who live far away.

I just went to a shower this past weekend and the gifts had to be wrapped in clear plastic - I didn't care for it. The fun for the bride - I think - is not knowing what's in the gifts.

Re: Do you think this is rude??

I had a display shower where all the guests brought their gifts unwrapped and they were displayed all around the house in gift baskets with the cards attached from the person the gift was from...I have been to 2 other showers like this and they are the best ever!!! Everyone at my shower said it was the best they have ever been to because it wasn't hours of opening gifts...Everyone mingled and talked to each other and it was awesome!!! My shower was not tacky at all...The theme was a 'Basketful of Happiness' because I love making gift baskets for people....Just because its a different kind of shower does not make it 'tacky' by any means!!! To each his own!
