Do they stay with you all day or just until ceremony?
i think it all depends who you book with and how they run their programs. mine is for the entire day - whenever i need her. So she prefaced it by saying from when i start to get ready to when we leave the hall! Couldnt really beat that for one low price!

DOC? Do I really need one?
Stupid question but if I don't get a DOC, who will be responsible for setting up the tables and flowers at the venue?

Definitely for peace of mind! I was curious about past incidents that my DOC has run into at weddings where it was beneficial that she was there.. some of the stories she told me.. WOW!!! Not trying to scare anyone but simple things can go wrong and its MUCH better that someone is there to 'troubleshoot' (as my DOC puts it) .. Shes told me that her 'wedding day emergency kit' is always needed. Isn't it easier to just hire someone to take care of incidentals? My DOC isn't even expensive. A couple hundred dollars will likely make my day AND planning go a LOT easier!!!!

I didn't have one and I am so happy I didn't spend the money on one. My hall was great and did everything like I asked them to. And a family friend was at the church early to help with that. Plus even when the clasp to my sister dress broke my photographer assistant took care of it. I went back and fourth with it also but in the end I was happy that I didn't spend the extra money.

The venue and the florist...that's part of their job.

DOC - totally worth the money. They helped with anything and everything in the 8 months before the wedding, they took over all the last minute phone calls and confirmations of vendors and made sure everyone was on time and where they needed to be. They made sure everything was set up at the RH to my direction - the matre de and bm are there for the RH not really for the bride don't let them fool you. DOC's are working for you and they will handle any mess ups with any vendors so you or you FH don't have to the matre de or BM will not do that.

DOC? Do I really need one?
Whether you want one can also depend on who you have around you to help. My friend didn't get one, because her sister handled all that stuff for her. Her sister had already been a bride and had been a MOH/bridesmaid numerous times before, so she was on top of things. I got a DOC, because I had no one in my family who would handle all the things the DOC handled because no one in my family had any clue about weddings.
We used A Modern Day Affair and they were amazing. My wedding was a week and half after Sandy, and they called all the vendors and made sure they were ok and still able to do the wedding. The day of, they just handled all the little things from ironing my shawl (which I had just brought folded in a package) to helping my MOH when her zipper got stuck on her dress to transporting last minute decorations to the venue to overseeing set up of the venue to taking cards from me and putting them in the box. And then there were the unexpected things, like dealing with my husband's cousin who showed up with his kids (at a no kids reception) and running to the bathroom with me when I started throwing up from anxiety.
They just made all the bumps a little smoother, and probably prevented some bumps that I'm not even aware of.

these are some great reasons -- i forgot another reason i wanted one was to take the stress of my sister (moh) and fbil (best man of honor) so they could relax and have fun!

Re: DOC? Do I really need one?
It really depends on you and if you have a lot of specific things you want done. If you are just having your florist drop of prepared centerpieces, then you probably don't need one.
My DOC was worth her weight in platinum and I gladly would have paid triple for her. She was so on top of things and right there when I needed her.
FM me if you want to know more, but I am so very grateful I had one. I did a lot of unique things that required set-up.

DOC? Do I really need one?
Two friends of mine used a DOC. One was out of state and the other used Marisa with Lavish Occassions (who i would definitely reccomend but i dont know about pricing). She is Staten Island based but im sure she would travel. Being on the bridal party side of things, they were very helpful. They helped all the girls with their dresses and kept us in line in terms of ceremony ettiquete (girls on the left, girls arms linked through the guys, bouquets down). She came to the hair salon with us also. One of them was assembling bouquets and even ran out to buy diapers for the flower girl. I dont think you would regret it if you got one. They will always find ways to make themselves helpful even if there isnt a crisis. I think whether or not you need one is entirely up to you and your needs/expectations for the day.

DOC? Do I really need one?
My daughter used a DOC because the wedding ceremony, hotel where guests were staying and reception were all at a distance, and if anything was amiss in any of these locales, we wanted someone else to run at a minutes notice.
One thing the DOC can do is keep your day running on time and keep track of the thousand details of your day. Frankly, the DOC got us through family pictures in a flash so we could all enjoy cocktail hour.
I do think that the reception hall bridal attendant did less as we had paid for a DOC, but there is no way they would have filled the DOC's role.
