I really don't want to spend the extra money here and the one reason why I would want one is I want my room to look the way I want it (obvi LOL) so I know this is where a DOC could help.
However, isn't this why we have a maitre de? (spelling?!)
Any brides married that DID NOT use one? Did you regret not having or did things go smooth?

I'm debating this idea myself.

I was considering it but changed my mind. I'd rather not spend the money.

I'm using one because I want things to go right BEFORE we get to the reception, and i want our ceremony to go correctly.
Ours will be there from pictures til we get to the ceremony, i think thru first dance. the really important parts. After that, the maitre d can handle it with the MC.
(i may change my mind and upgrade to a few more hours lol)

I changed my mind (I originally wanted one!) and figured it was just like the game telephone... I would rather be the one setting everything up and arranging my own wedding than having to go through a middleman.

DOC? Do I really need one?
I am a control freak and always thought getting a DOC would be redundant since I'd want to do it all myself. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that although I may WANT to do everything, there is just no way I will be able to while sitting in a chair for hours getting my hair and make up done. There is only so much delegating I can do. Having a DOC is ensuring ONE person is taking care of EVERYTHING you tell her to. Her sole purpose to make ME happy and everything is in my best interest lol.
i am working with a great girl who is starting her business and super affordable. She is for the entire day and unlimited correspondence leading up to my wedding. FM me if you'd like her info.

I'm using one because I'm getting married in a church and I needed someone to setup the church. I didn't want to put that burden on one of my family members. Also, there is a time gap between the church and reception so they will ensure that we are on schedule!

DOC? Do I really need one?
I decided to hire a DOC because I want to have peace of mind on the day of. I want someone there to keep us on schedule and to handle the little things throughout the day that I wont be able to do myself. Also, in case of anything crazy happening they will be there to take care of it.

My thinking exactly! Just wanted some peace of mind and to lessen my already anxiety filled day lol.

This exactly. I got an amazing price for 12 hours and my DOC had been so helpful in researching things for me thus far. She answers all my emails in a snap. Totally worth every small penny I paid so far!

DOC? Do I really need one?
Originally I didn’t think I needed one but then decided to book a DOC (Christine from Piece of Cake Events) for peace of mind and I’m so happy I did. Christine helped answer any questions I had leading up to the big day, confirmed all of my vendors a week out (something I definitely would not have had time to do by myself), created a time line for the day of (which she made sure we stuck to) and handled a minor issue with one of my vendors on the day of so my husband, myself or our families wouldn’t have to worry about it. Looking back now, I’m so glad I booked her!

I completely agree with these ladies! Peace of mind is key, and now I don't have to burden myself or anyone else with setting things up. I booked with Once Upon An Event when they had a groupon and they have been awesome so far!

DOC? Do I really need one?
I'm the control freak too. I was thinking I wouldn't use a DOC but the thought of having to cart endless items back to the car *after* the wedding got me.
My wedding is fairly simple but there's going to be those left over table decorations, favors, the card box, whatever item we decide to have the guests sign, our memory table items. Just to name a few! (Do I really want to be breaking down my own wedding?)
So, all that, plus handing out the tips, is what got me to change my mind. I haven't hired one yet, so I'm interested in hearing about some low-cost recommendations. TIA!

That's up to you. Many DOC's have options for anywhere between 4 and 12 hours (of course, the more time you book for, the more expensive it is). When I booked, my DOC had a 4 hour package for only $200, so if you just want help with setup, that could be an option. I booked one just to have peace of mind that day, because I stress out easily and can become overwhelmed. I want to be carefree on my wedding day, so I'm hiring someone to deal with the stress on the actual day. Its also great because she is another resource for any questions I have during planning.
