Nope, my FH is FDNY and works lots of nights. He also has another job working some nights.
Me too! Sometimes with 24 hour shifts, I don't see him for a while....

Mine did for the entire time we were dating (NYPD) but he got a transfer and now does days. I think its something you get used to. It was actually an adjustment when he switched to days. :)

Re: Does anybody's FH work nights?
FH is a corrections officer so he is on a rotating schedule with rotating days off. He also DJs and does delivery for a deli so he is always working. It's frustrating but I'll get used to it.

My DH's second job is in a band so yeah those are weekend nights! (at least I can sometimes go when it's a bar gig though)
Same here!!!
Sometimes it's lonely, but sometimes I look forward to being home by myself! And now with a new puppy on the way, lonely no more!

Nope, mine does too. Right now he's in the NYPD academy on their night shift, so he gets out at midnight. He graduates in a few weeks and then he'll probably be working even later... And he won't even have weekends off anymore.
It is very lonely. I think that's why I spend so much time on here. And we don't even live together... but it's just knowing that if I wanted to talk to him, he wouldn't be able to makes it really hard sometimes. Some nights I just sit around waiting until midnight just so I can hear his voice before I go to sleep.
Anyway. How depressing am I? Sorry. It just would have been nice if he'd chosen a job with a normal 9-5 weekday type schedule! (and perhaps one a little safer that didn't require him to lurk around in dark allies and subway stations in NYC...)
I felt the same way when FH went into the academy, I am a teacher and work days and he was working nights. We were lucky if we saw each other 2 times a week for an hour on the weekends. I know what you mean about being lonely. I have great friends who always invite me to things, parties, GTG's, and nw years. Because it is very lonely, last new year my friends went away and my family does not live here so I was all alone. Mine works 12-7 and we get to see each other every night now, so when I sleep he is working, when I am working he is sleeping. It works out great for us but again it is a hard schedule for him and he is always tired from the job, but aren't we all. Good luck and I am here is you need to chat. I know many of us can relate.

I feel like I miss alot of my life w/ FH due to the business I'm in, but I love what I do, and sometimes FH naps so he & I can spend some time together when I get home

Re: Does anybody's FH work nights?
Oddly enough, we both work really weird hours. Our schedules rotate from days to nights to overnights. But we never seem to be on the same schedule at the same time.

Re: Does anybody's FH work nights?
My FH is a firefighter in ATL. Works 24 hr shift every third day and also works part-time at another fire-dept on either 12 or 24 hour shift. So, he can be gone either 24, 36 or 48 hours before I see him. I work 11-7 everyday except Tues. That's when he tries to get his days off so we can spend them together. It's hard, but you do get used to it.
We know what you're going thru honey!

How often do you see him? What country will you be living in when you get married?

Re: Does anybody's FH work nights?
My FH gets a different schedule every week. He does work nights a lot and usually gets stuck there very late. We live 4 1/2 hours apart now, so we will be happy to be living together after we get married, but I'm sure being in bed without him will be lonely!
