Does anybody's FH work nights?

DH works night and weekends...

Nope, mine does too. Right now he's in the NYPD academy on their night shift, so he gets out at midnight. He graduates in a few weeks and then he'll probably be working even later... And he won't even have weekends off anymore.

It is very lonely. I think that's why I spend so much time on here. And we don't even live together... but it's just knowing that if I wanted to talk to him, he wouldn't be able to makes it really hard sometimes. Some nights I just sit around waiting until midnight just so I can hear his voice before I go to sleep.

Anyway. How depressing am I? Sorry. It just would have been nice if he'd chosen a job with a normal 9-5 weekday type schedule! (and perhaps one a little safer that didn't require him to lurk around in dark allies and subway stations in NYC...)

your man is working the 4-12's at the academy? mine is daytime and does 7-3:30!! isn't it great that the graduation is just in a few weeks! i can't wait!

i agree with you on the wishing it was a safer job. but i know it's his dream and he wants to pursue it. i've been luck that he's been home by 5:30 for the past 6 months...but that will all stop once they graduate.

Mine works Sunday-Thursday from 10pm-7 am, but then usually works OT & gets to bed around 11-12. I come home from work around 430 & then wake him up around 6. We have dinner together & then he's off.

I really look forward to weekends. He sometimes then works Friday nights at his 2nd job w/ a friend.

Nope you're not the only one....Mine works Monday through Friday 3-11:30 and I work 9-5, so the only reason we see each other during the week is in passing being that we live together...

I have been w/ the NYPD for 4 1/2 years .. I love my job, but I work steady midnights now for 3 1/2 years. I don't sleep much, but the hours work for me... I know my FH feels the way you guys do. But I'm here for you if you need anything...

he might as well, he falls asleep around 9 every night so we never hang out i stay up all night cause i work from 12:00-10:30pm i hate our schedules

That is sooo funny because you might as well be describing my life. I work flexed hours but mainly 11a -11p or 12n- 10:15pm. My guy is in bed by 9 - 9:30 and up at 5am. We see each other 3 weekends out of a month (I work one weekend/mo) and occasionally during the week. I like some alone time but sometimes I hate how different our schedules are.

mine doesn't anymore. but while he was saving for the ring he worked security at a hotel on tuesday thru saturday 11:00 - 7:30. And he would sleep all day. That was a very lonely 9 months.

Not alone! My DH is also NYPD and works steady four to twelve. I'm so used to it by now. The good thing is that his days off rotate, and he's off for Christmas and New Years this year!!
