Does anyone do Weight Watchers?

Original post by JKWedd817

If so, what do you think?

I just got something in the mail about joining again. I did it in the past & saw results, but honestly, got lazy. I don't know much about the 'new' plan & was wondering if anyone likes it & how it's working for them.

New Year...New Me, right?

I'm starting WW next week! I know it works, but I haven't been succesful on it, but now I have a real actual goal, so I'm going to try again. So many people have seen real results from it.

I think I am going to try it also. I figure I'll join, see how it works and if it is something I can stick with. If not, I'll cancel my membership after the 3 months.

Since they have the free sign up now you can do that and you dont have to pay the $40 per month. I'm going to sign up and just pay per meeting that I go to. I think its like 12-15 per meeting. It works for me tho cuz i wont be able to go every week. You still get all the perks of the membership too!

I just signed up Friday morning! My first time doing it, its 42 dollars a month, and you get the weigh in every week and a meeting each week, and all the tools. I downloaded the app on my phone, so its there to remind me to track! I also downloaded the weight watchers scanner, where you can scan the barcode on something you are going to eat and it gives you the points! I hope this works lol...

Whoa $42 a month? For WW online I believe its only $19 per month. I dont want to go to meetings. So I have been looking into the online option. Im going to look into that WW scanner if I join. Thanks.

My parents both been on it for almost 2 years. I took all their books from the old system and am working on that. I have lost a decent amount of weight that way, and doesn't cost me anything. My parents aren't the biggest fans of the new system, and the old one worked better for them. Thats what I am sticking to.

I'm doing myfitnesspal. It's free and it's just counting calories. FH lost 40 lbs already and lost 28 and we still eat our wendy's

I also use myfitnesspal. It's a great website!! I used to do WW, but I became obessed with the number of points I could eat and was always afraid of not having points at the end of the day. It just didn't click for me.

I started using myfitnesspal, watching what I eat and working out. The key for me is working out and eating healthy. I cut out the soda and I try not to drink so much. I'm down 15 lbs so far!! Wedding Dress Prep is in full session!

FH and I are doing it- we joined in mid-November we go to meetings on Saturdays in Bay Shore. We both love it and it's working well for us so far. It's tough sometimes, but it's very effective.

I did it back in the day and lost a ton of weight and then fell off the wagon LOL. We figure it's a new chapter in our lives, and we want to be healthy and happy together.

How great you & your FH can do it together. Great support system for each other.

I love MFP for counting calories! I used them for a while & still think I will in addition to WW. I need the support & accountablity (or humility) of weighing in with someone, etc.

My friend got married in Sept and she was on it and convinced me to try it. She had the app on her Iphone so she gave me her books and I just wung it... I lost 30lbs in 6 weeks and then I had to stop because my BM dress for her wedding couldnt be altered down anymore and it was STILL to big I plan on going back on it Jan 1 and continuing to do it until I lose another 20 lbs or so... I swear by it.. no other diet worked for me and since I was 'using' her membership so-to-speak I lost all that weight for free!!

WOW! Congrats! You worked the program HARD CORE!
Was it the old or new points system?

I'm hearing/reading that a lot - about people who have been on it a while prefer the old points vs points plus. I'll give it a try - if it doesn't work I'm sure I can dig out my old books. I think I saw some free apps that still support the old system too!

Congrats on that loss!
I think the key to any plan is healthy eating & moving more.
I love that MFP has the option to modify what you're tracking - like I would really focus not only on calories, but fiber & sodium too. Of course, I think I got too numbers obsessive at that point.

Re: Does anyone do Weight Watchers?

My mom has done WW for a couple years and it works really well for her, she looks fantastic. I tried it for about a month, and my biggest problem is that since I'm not 'overweight' for my height (I'm heavier than I want to be for my build but not technically overweight at all) I didn't get very many points per day. It was really difficult for me to eat within the points, so I wouldn't eat enough, which would cause migraines. Hopefully WW works out better for you girls! Good luck
