Re: Does Anyone drive a Jeep?

Yeah... even if you only drive a half of tank at every fillup... the formula still works.

Don't get upset if your number is below 15 MPG though.

Re: Does Anyone drive a Jeep?

I have a jeep grand cherokee and we love it. Our payment is less than 375.00 permonth and out insurance is less than 1,000.00 per year. We just got it in May.

Re: Does Anyone drive a Jeep?

I thought it was just my liberty that gets bad mileage...I am always filling up - I swear they fibbed on the sticker...

I am driving my other car - a 1994 honda a few days a week to save $ on the gas!

Re: Does Anyone drive a Jeep?

See my 'toy' thread.

I don't think gas mileage is as bad on the Liberty as it is on the Wrangler and Cherokee. But its definitely going to be a culture shock.

But thats what my FW wanted and now that we have it... she is quite happy. And I am happy for her.

Re: Does Anyone drive a Jeep?

I have a 1999 Cherokee Sport. It guzzles gas but it's only a 6-cylinder so less-so than an 8 cylinder.

Jeeps are really good trucks ... well worth any investment

Believe it or not Rich, our Grand Cherokee is actually getting better gas mileage then our Liberty did!

Re: Does Anyone drive a Jeep?

I have the Liberty and it eats gas--I like it for the roominess, but
The design of the interior is so weird - it is not natural to open the windows from the middle console...and there isn't any place to put anything in between the front seats...there isn't alot of great storage.

I like driving it b/c I the seats are good for my back, but design-wise not my favorite car to date...
We lease it so it'll be going back when the lease is up -

Re: Does Anyone drive a Jeep?

I don't know the engine that is offered in the Liberty. However, my experience with the Jeep 4.0 was great. Great power and the while it sure consumed more gasoline than a 4 cyl. Honda, the mileage was just fine.

Now my Envoy on the otherhand.....

Re: Does Anyone drive a Jeep?

i had a wrangler - gas was typical of a little SUV

But the thing was dangerous - my family nicknamed it the death mobile and no one drove it the last month of the lease

My brother hydroplaned on the highway into the guard rail
My dad got hit in the back quater panel by someone changing lanes and it spun on the highway where he got nailed on all sides

wrangler have no weight over the back wheels so they spin out lots- need to put cinder blocks backe there

you can get some good deals on suvs -when you lase them at the end of year so a 2004 at this time of year

also if you want a good gas milage suv - the best one is the new Ford Escape because it is a hybrid- the first SUV hybrid (also hybrids have a tax advantage too)

The Liberty has the newer 3.7L V6 (based of the 4.7L V8).

The 4.0L is only available in the Wrangler now. (The Grands went over to the 3.7L for the base model for '05)

The 4.0L is the best engine ever...it'll go 300,000 miles and just be getting 'broken in' if you take care of it. Love it!

(Finally...some GUY talk! )
