Does anyone drive a Toyota Corolla or Camry?
We're in the market for a 2nd car since we'll be LI'ers soon!!
DH likes Toyota. I still want my Volvo Cross Country wagon...ahhh, I can dream.Any advice on these models?? I prefer the Camry over the Corolla b/c it has a bit more room. I'm 5'11' for cryin' out loud!!
Thanks!

I have a 1998 camry and love it, it was bought brand new, i tried the carolla and hated it... Chevy Prizm is made by Toyota and we have that also, we love both cars.... if you have any questions feel free to ask away.P.S.FH is six ft, 2in tall and he is comfy in the Camry over the Prizm. Good luck!

Re: Does anyone drive a Toyota Corolla or Camry?
I have a 1993 Camry. It has been good to me for all of these years and is still running strong. There is one thing that you might want to consider though. I don't know if it is the 1993 model or if other's have experienced this but the Camry has a weird odor inside that my fh hates. We think it is the Vinyl. A lot of mechanics have said that all of the 1993's have this weird smell. It was like a Seinfeld episode when my fh first smelled it. We thought it was my hair, my clothes, something in my house. Then we thought it was mice that were in the pipes of the car. We have had it shampooed and steamed etc and still can't get rid of the smell. We finally figured out it was not me (thank goodness) when fh realized he ONLY smelled it after I drove the car. Then we tested it and left some of fh's baseball gear ie hats and coat in the car and the items had the odor. Just something to think about. Toyota said they have had others too with the odor but they are not sure what it is and have not offered to fix it etc...

I have a Corolla. I am 5'9' and sit in it comfortably. If I had a choice I would pick the Camry. The Camry is a bit more money but its bigger. You would definately be more comfortable in that car.

Re: Does anyone drive a Toyota Corolla or Camry?
My mom has had a camry for close to 10 years! She's never had any serious mechanical problems except a cracked axle and damage done in accidents and such. Nothing to do with the manufacturing. We have a solara which is the 2 door coupe version of the camry. We love it! Nice ride, no mechanical problems either. My DH is 6'6 and fits very comfortably in it.
But, we have had no luck with the service centers. We have been trying to get the alarm, auto door locks and remote starter working properly for about a year now. When ever we bring it in they don't have all the parts despite the fact that we have gone into excruciating detail about the problems when we make the appointments, drop off the car and pick it up and are told we need to come back.

Re: Does anyone drive a Toyota Corolla or Camry?
I drive a 1998 camry and haven't had any major problems with it. But just be forewarned - their service is awful at both Smithtown toyota and Stevens toyota in Huntington station. They need to learn some customer service skills.

I think we'll end up w/ the Camry, I just feel better knowing there's a *bit* more room!!
I was LMAO, Fran, about the odor!! I'll make sure I take a good whiff (sp?) before I drive my new car home!!

Re: Does anyone drive a Toyota Corolla or Camry?
I just sold my 1995 Corolla. I miss it already. Toyota's are great cars overall. I never had one ounce of trouble with my Corolla. I just sold it because I needed a change - I had it for 7 years, besides, my hubby's family ons a car and truck dealership and it's not toyota!!I think the Camry is a much bigger and certainly more powerful car. My parents have a 1992 and it's still running fine with no problems.
My choice would be a Camry. My one complaint was that my Corolla, being a 4-cylinder, did not have the greatest pick-up power - it was tough to accelerate to highway speed. Go for the V-6 if possible.
