does anyone else....

get really upset when they think about losing their last name??? i feel like my last name is such a big part of who i am!
i feel like i would be disrespectful if i didnt change my last name, but i was thinking of making it a second middle name. can i do that?? do u think thats a bad idea???

I totally know how you feel. I want to keep my last name so bad. It's such a MAJOR part of who I am. I love it. And I love the history that goes with my last name. My new name is going to be so common.

I feel so bad. I have brought this up to FH and he gets mad when I say I am going to hyphenate my name. I honestly don't know why he would get mad over that. I always believe the kids should have their fathers name. But, I just want to keep my last name somewhere. We'll seee.

I love my last name too, you just get used to it. I'm going to hyphenate it, luckily for me, fh doesn't care about such things. He makes his jokes but it really doesn't bother him. I know it will be a pain but paper work is something I'm excellent with so it won't be a problem. Make whatever choice your comfortable with.

My mom made her maiden name her middle name. She really didn't want to give hers up, but 35 years ago it wasn't even an option! I really don't want to give mine up, but FH is so traditional that he got insulted when I mentioned possibly keeping it. But I'm not just doing it for him, I do want to have the same last name as mher padsy husband and eventually our children. Mine just sounds so much better - mine's Italian and his is German!

I totally know how you feel! I actually posted something about this a week or so ago. I'm going to change my middle name to my current last name and take his last name. Kinda want to keep my own but I know I'd have to hear it from everyone including FH if I didn't. I really do love my Italian last name though.

Yeah I like my last name - it's simple and it just flows. I'm sad to see it go but I've already made the decision to fully switch names. I don't want to have a first name, middle name, second middle name, and last name

I'm going from the beginning of the alphabet to the end. That is up setting. My poor children! LOL
