Does anyone else feel...(sorry a little long)

Does anyone else feel...(sorry a little long)

like they're never going to have enough money for a house?!? Everyday I pay more bills, pay for things for the wedding, trying to pay off debt I have etc...I dont really ever treat myself to anything b/c i'm so worried I wont have money to make my next bill payments...I just feel FH and I are so behind and that we'll never catch up. Our parents dont have money to help us either, so it's not like we could really ask them for help (not that I think I would, I've always been independent) but i think it might feel good knowing we would have them if we needed it. I see people I graduated with and they are in brand new homes, driving new cars etc...usually I brush it off and say 'ehh whatever, good for them' but then there are days where I just want to cry cause i dont feel like i'm going to get there...My MOH showed me pics of her friends wedding. This girl is 21 yrs old and she married someone I graduated with. they just had a beautiful wedding, and they bought this massive house...I just wish I knew how they did it!! lol

SORRY...this ended up being alot longer than I expected. Its that time of the month and apparently i'm a little emotional

I totally understand what you mean.. Im paying 25k for school a year along with all my bills and the wedding, and it honestly *****, but I look at it like after the wedding, all the money I would be spending on the wedding will go towards the house, so eventually we will have that gorgeous house, even if its not just after we get married.

Thats what we're hoping for. Making a decent amount of money to put towards a house next year. We opened up a joint account to hopefully start saving so we can add the wedding money to it. I'm just hoping its enough to put down on anything...
OH and dont even get me started on school loans lol i'm going to have those forever!

Yeah, I'm hoping we are able to buy a house the end of 2009, thats my hope, because I'll finally be out of school for good! I just hope we have saved enough by then, because houses are just wayyy to expensive, its ridiculous!!

and yeah the school loans, they just keep adding up, gotta love that interest lol

i'm in the same boat - between FH and his massive student loans, the bills, the wedding that I am paying for almost all by myself - can't even imagine starting all over again to save for a house. good thing FH wants as fixer-upper!! but yea, the situation in general is a little depressing!

I sometimes try and make 2 payments towards my school loans a month (hoping to get it down a little faster lol) and at the end of every month I look at it and just think 'wow I still have the same balance' lol interest stinks! it never seems to go down!!

I agree 100 percent -- it is one of my biggest fears--never owning a home---LI does a great job of pushing out the 20/early 30 somethings--it really ***** and i often think do i really need a big wedding--can't i take that money and put towards a house---but then again everyone wants their princess day---i often find myself being very ambivalent-- i like to see myself as a rational person and spending soo much money on 1 day is SOOOO friggin irrational-- ahhhh

I have to say that I feel the same way. FH & I are paying for the wedding almost entirely ourselves...and had no savings before this past February when we opened our wedding account.

I keep telling myself that if we were able to get the money together for the wedding in one year - then we can do a house in maybe 2-3. Next year we are going to save to go on our honeymoon and anything left over is going into a house fund.

Every single day.
I try not to think about it, because if I did... I'd cry. A Lot.

I know how you feel right now My Fh is paying for everything b/c I have bills, and student loans starting soon. I still haven't got a decent kob so I am still making crap for income. I barley make it noe and I still live at home. I am very fortunate to alrady have a house in CT with FH but all my stuff is lingering over my head.

OMG...that it what I feel on a daily basis!! I try not to think about...I am the master at pushing worries out of my mind....but I just hope that everything will come together, and I don't have to leave my home and move out of state because we can't live here. We have been living in my mothers house for 4 years now, and I just want out!! It looks like all we could afford would be a crappy condo....2 bedroom is what I want, just in case we have kids at some point in the next few years!! But, if we are paying a mortgage, how can we afford to save for a house??

Very Depressing!! I feel like I will never be able to pay off my bills with the amount of money I make!! Thank god for my FH...not that he makes a ton, but he makes close to double me. Hopefully I will get a better job in the next year or so, or we are screwed!!

Anyhoo...you are not alone!

Re: Does anyone else feel...(sorry a little long)

It is a very hard thing for a lot of people. FH and I bought our house in January and purposely did it before the massive wedding bills came along, to avoid tons of bills at once. I'm paying off loans while paying for Grad school and we are also paying for the wedding totally ourselves, as well as renovating it, so that when we move in it's OURS. It's easier to set a goal and work towards it....if not, then it seems frustrating. Smaller goals are feasible....take small steps. Lots of luck!

Knowin there are plenty of girls in my situation makes me feel a little better. Even though i still stress like crazy, I'm just really going to have to buckle down. I would totally get a second job to help out but by the time I get home from my full time job everyday, it doesnt leave me with much room to find another one. FH makes decent money but makes most of it doing side work (construction) he helps out alot of people who are renovating, flipping homes especially...but no one has been able to buy any homes so hes losing out big time

Does anyone need a new bathroom, kitchen, plumbing, electic etc?!?!? haha FH does amazing work! lol

I just pray to GOD that the houses on LI will come down into an affordable range.....I'm hoping that around the end of 2009 we'll be in a new house in Massapequa Park!!!
