I just clicked on the Wedding Songs link under Planning because FH STILL hasn't picked out a song to dance with his mom to and we meet the dj in three days.
Anyway, in the Mother/Son Dance list was the song Always by Atlantic Starr. The lyrics are below. Would it skeeve anyone else out if their FH/DH danced with his mom to this song????
Girl you are to me, all that a woman should be, And I dedicate my life to you always The love like yours is grand, It must have been sent from up above And I know you'll stay this way, for always
And we both know, that our love will grow And forever it will be you and me Ooh your life is sun, Chasing all the rain away, When you come around you bring a brighter day You're the perfect one For me and you forever we'll be And I will love you so for always
Came with me my sweet, Let's go make a family, And they will bring us joy, for always
Oh boy I love your soul, I can't find enough ways to let you know But you can be sure of course, for always
And we both know, that our love will grow And forever it will be you and me Ooh your life is sun, Chasing all the rain away, When you come around you bring a brighter day You're the perfect one For me and you forever we'll be And I will love you so for always
Ooh your life is sun, Chasing all the rain away, When you come around you bring a brighter day You're the perfect one For me and you forever we'll be And I will love you so for always
I will love you so, for always

Re: Does Anyone Else Find This Disturbing???

Re: Does Anyone Else Find This Disturbing???
that's does seem kind of....different. more passion-love than mother/son love.

HELLO?!!! I definitely do not think that is appropriate
If I saw a mother and son dancing to that, I would be taken back... a little strange if you ask me :)

That DEFINTELY doesn't belong there.
FBIL chose 'what a wonderful world' I've seen 'forever young' used often too

I always thought that was a wedding song long before coming here. If I saw a groom dancing to that song with his mom, Id tell the bride to get the scissors and cut the apron strings!!!

I think that song is more suited to romantic love.

I'm considering that song for OUR song.
ya know, maybe he's just clueless about the lyrics and doesn't realize... and SHE likes the song... Whatever, I'd X it from the list though if I were you!

Re: Does Anyone Else Find This Disturbing???
I just went back - there are others!!!
You're the Inspiration?!?!?! 'You're the meaning in my life, you're the inspiration.' I'd DIE if FH danced to that, or even picked it out as an option!!!
I Do (Cherish You) is on there too -
When you smile I can feel all my passion unfolding
Your hand brushes mine And a thousand sensations seduce me
How you opened my life to a new paradise
Hey Ron, I think you need to revamp your list

Oh God, NO!!! Brett doesn't want it, this is on the LIW song suggestion list for Mother/Son Dances.
OMG that would be grounds for calling off the wedding, I'm not joking!
It reminds me of how many people choose Green Day's 'Time of Your Life' to end their wedding, when if you look at the lyrics, it is a break-up song.
'It's something unpredicatble, but in the end its right... I hope you had the time of your life'
See, to me that means 'Hey it [the relationship] was good while it lasted, but even good things end.' I always felt it was a break-up song.

Hmmm.... I can see your point but it refers to 'it' in the present tense twice. But it's contradictory because then it's past tense with the Had. I can see why people would use that as a last dance song though. At least it wouldn't mean you're hanging out in the Ozarks like these songs

Re: Does Anyone Else Find This Disturbing???
there are a few songs there that I don't think are really appropriate...but i guess there aren't that many songs out there.
My FMIL loves classical music- if I'm lucky, they'll pick an instrumental!

I would defiintely be disturbed if my FH picked that song to dance with his mother! Totally not appropriate!

I think that has to be human error. No way would I let my FI dance with FMIL to that. Ha-ha!

I love that song, and want to use it for the recessional. Fh thinks it's a break up song too, and doesn't want to use it. I told him to pretend the line says 'Its something unpredictable, but in the end its right. I hope you HAVE the time of your life.'

Re: Does Anyone Else Find This Disturbing???
That is bizarre seeing as how that was my dad and step-moms wedding song!
