DOes anyone else share my desire to not have kids right away?

I feel like everyone around me wants kids really fast- anyone else looking to wait 4-5+ years before trying?

I'll be 25 when I'm married - and FH and I decided we won't even consider having kids until I hit 30 (5 years). And at that time we will have 'the talk' and see if we want to wait longer or try to have kids then

I guess I am in the minority here. while I want to wait about a year after the wedding, at that point I will be 32, and I want to have my child bet. 32 and 33. I only want one, but I don't want to wait too long to have them.

I want to be young enough when he/she starts college to enjoy everything all over again.

LOL- I haven't even had the kid yet and I am already pushing for the 18th bday!

we are in the same situation no kids on my mind. however i have friends who really want me to have them asap with them. ummm not going to happen!

I want to wait as long as possible to have one. I've never really been into kids. Maybe I'll want one in 6 years or so.

We were thinking of waiting at least 2 years before we have children. I am really not ready yet. I also have to make sure that FI's health is stable, because he has to be my first priority for the next few years.

Well since fiance and I have been living together for almost 2 years we have enough alone time also we have daughter already so when we get married she will be two I think we are going to wait a little while maybe a few months or so and then try. I would like at least one more. I am 32 now and I don't want to wait too long cuz of health reasons

My FILs are DYING for us to have kids. It is all they talk about. How we better get a house big enough for kids and how they can't wait till we have kids. I think they are expecting us to have a kid in the first year or two (like them) but that is SO not gonna happen

I don't want kids right away but my FI is older and I know he won't want to wait too long. We will probably wait around 2 years...

We would like to wait at least 2 years-so we can have our alone time and try to become more financially stable but, I love kids and cannot wait to be a mommy

I think we'll wait at least 3 years. I'll be 27 when we're married and FH will be 32. We'd like two kids, and if I can have them both between 30 and 32, I'll be happy. FH probably wants them a bit sooner...I don't think he likes the idea of being over 35 when we have our kids, but we'll see...

Kids are definitely 'in the future' -- we'll probably start thinking about it after 5 years, when I'm 30. I'm just not in that mindset at all! And we just bought a 1br in the city, and I'd like to enjoy

OK - don't mean to hijack - but OMG!!! How do you keep track of the birthdays? I'm a bit jealous - I'm only one of two - and have no nieces or nephews anywhere in sight...

As for the thread, I'm in a different boat - I'm ready for kids whenever they might happen.

Ideally, we want to buy a house first -- hopefully within a year after the wedding. Then, whatever happens, happens.

Well I'm 38 and still don't have them yet. We wanted to wait a while and we did. I think we may try soon. Keep your fingers crossed.

We want to wait at least a couple of years. We'll be 30 when we get married, but want some time to be newlyweds, settle in to the condo we just bought and hopefully travel a little bit just the two of us!
