Does anyone else think this is just not right (RE: TY cards)

Does anyone else think this is just not right (RE: TY cards)

I'm the last one to go on about wedding etiquette, but this just doesnt seem right to me...

We went to a wedding in October, and we just got our thank you card...

It was just a card that was pre-made with the words 'thank you for your generosity, it was apreciated... etc Love, X & Y'

So, no signatures, no personal note, nothing.

I made a point of writing a personal note on EVERY single card - even for the ones that gave us $25...

Would that annoy anyone elsen, or am I being pissy?

That would annoy me personally. I plan to handwrite notes to everyone, even those who didn't give anything (if that winds up applying to anyone).

Then again, at least she didn't wait 9 months to send them. (THAT annoys me... I don't care if etiquette says you have a year...)

I just think that every couple does things their own way.....I've been to events recently (engagement, baby shower, baptism) where the Thank You cards have been attached to the favors!! What can you do?!?!

That is so rude. A friend of mine went to an engagement party recently and she got the same sort of thank you card. I just think if people take the time to get you a gift and attend your event then the least you can do is write a personal note in the thank you.

This annoys me, we got one last month from a wedding we went to last December like that. It took them almost a year to just send a little preprinted card? I know it's a pain writing them all out but, IMO it's rude!

I personally would care less...my thinking is AT LEAST they sent a thank you.

I wouldnt care if I received one like that cause I really just want to see the picture,I love pictures

However, I would not send mine out with out a personal note.

seriously---they shoudl just have sent you an envelope with some poo in it...would've been just as klassy.

maybe some brides on here have done something similiar--but i have to say IMHO, if you can't just WRITE something on a card....you should be tarred and feathered!!!!! ppl came to your wedding and didn't draw a picture of $$ in a card, they enjoyed your day with you. that shiit totally pisses me off!

Well as far as the wedding being in October and you just got the card this month- thats pretty common. It takes a while to pick out the picture and the photographers take time to prepare the cards..

but as far as no personal note on it, or even a SIGNATURE.. W T F?!?!? Ive NEVER recieved a WEDDING thank you like that.. actually ive never recieved ANYTHING thank you without a note!!!

That happened to us once!! We went to a wedding that the girl went ALL out for, she did so many gorgeous DIYs and you could tell read every wedding book under the sun.

Then we get a pre-printed card with a pic of them printed on like an ink jet printer with a similar generic statement. It blew us away because she always tries to be all classy and proper.

Ugh. Its wrong.

That would annoy me, since my cards said the same thing, but I still wrote a message in each card to the couple.

as much as that would be nice to do and you could get them out quick... it is soooooo tacky! I would be pissed! totally!

Definitely RUDE! My mother sent flowers and a care package to her friends that lost their child and what she got in return (well, she did receive a verbal thankyou at the funeral but other than that...) was card preprinted with a poem and a 'thanks for the sympathy.' It seems people can't be bothered with personal greetings.

Maybe we should stop filling out greeting cards...just leave the preprinted sentiment as the only message.

I don't think that would bother me too much... at least you got a Thank You card at all... and two months later is pretty quick... I've gone to weddings (in 2005) and STILL haven't received a thank you!!

I hate being that way, bit I took soooo much time personalizing my cards... it shocked me...

The time frame doesn't bother me - please - I am still sending out some cards I couldnt find addresses for, but I made sure to personalize each one!
