Does anyone else's mother call you 5x a day....at WORK?

She is driving me crazy ever since she was forced into retirement. Every day!

According to my mom, I can leave early, come in late, take an hour lunch to do something with her, or get personal phone calls all day long. Then I yell at her and feel bad. Anyone else?

Nope, I don't even think my Mom knows my work phone number

I basically made it clear that I cannot get calls (well OK I can, but she doesn't have to know that) .. and besides we make up for it by talking every single night anyhow

I can't get used to it when I don't have my own line and every time the boss answers the phone, it's a personal call for me!

Oh, and to reply to the above post, we talk every morning on my way to work and almost every night....TOP THAT!

She's on and off. Never calls me at work, but some days she'll call me a few times at home and sometimes she'll go a few days without calling me at all.

my mom calls me on my cell phone which i dont answer till i go on my breaks and i am like sheesh its not like i dont talk to her everyday!

She used to call at all times during my workday, with nothing important to say, just to chat. Finally I made it a little routine to call her every morning when I get in to chat a few minutes. This works for me because I get in earlier than most people here, so I can talk for a bit in peace.

My mom calls me all the time while I am at work,,,and it's not like i dont see or talk her,,I live home......

But I dont mind......

Mine only calls about 1x every few days, and it's for stupid things like a piece of mail for me from college or a sale coupon. 'Should I save this for you?' H*LL NO!!! Throw it out!'

She also thinks that since I 'only' work in a library that I have all this discretionary time to take off to drive her to dr. appointments. I do have accumulated sick leave time, but if I have too many 'undocumented' sicknesses, I'm put on restriction. Plus, I don't feel I should have to waste a whole vacation day when she can easily take a cab or the LIRR. Plus, I have to schlep all the way to Queens, only to have to drive to Mineola for the dr., then drive her all the way back home. Then I have to drive home too!!! Then she gets mad at me when I tell her I can't do this anymore.

It really makes the idea of moving out of state a WHOLE LOT more appealing!!!

she doesn't call me 5x a day but when she does call she doesn't understand that I can't sit there and BS for an hour while people are coming to my desk to see me and all it got to the point where I had to tell her, I can only talk for 10 min if I am at work otherwise I will call you when I get home! She is a teacher and has never had an office job...so she doesn't understand.
