Re: DOES ANYONE FEEL SAD ABOUT...
I do! I'm going to miss living with my fam! It will change things, but a wise friend told me that it also helps the relationship with the fam. This will take us to a new level in our family relationship. It is bitter sweet though. I'm excited to have my own place with FH, but at the same time I will miss my home. So you're not alone!

Re: DOES ANYONE FEEL SAD ABOUT...
Ive been living with my FH, so it's not a big change for us.
I'm excited for you! I've been on my own for a while now (i'm in my 30s) but I think back to when I first moved out of mom & pops and although I missed seeing them everyday, I was so ready to be on my own

Re: DOES ANYONE FEEL SAD ABOUT...
FH and I just moved into our own place a month and a half ago. The last two weeks before I moved I was such a mess! I would burst into tears anytime I saw my mom or sister. lol It was terrible. I don't think that it helped that I moved over an hour away from home. I am very happy now and adjusting well. It is bittersweet. I just kept reminding myself that we all move away from home eventually.

Re: DOES ANYONE FEEL SAD ABOUT...
When I first moved out I missed my family, but I had to move to Connecticut for my job. Every time I went home for visits I cried all the way to the Throgs Neck on my way back to CT. I missed them, but I loved being on my own!!
Don't worry it will get easier. I now stop crying way before the Throgs Neck...

Re: DOES ANYONE FEEL SAD ABOUT...
I have been living with my FH for almost 5 years already (been together 5.5). I wish I had stayed home longer. I could have had TONS more money for a house, etc, but more than that, I think that I am going to miss out on a lot of the newness of marriage .... so much of it is making a new life with your husband, new home, new routines, etc - and we will not feel that. That makes me a little sad sometimes.
BUT, we do plan on moving to new Hampshire within a year or so of getting married (so by late 2009 as we plan on getting married in late summer 2008), and I know that will bring many NEW things.

I do!!! I'll be leaving the house I grew up in! And what makes me feel really bad is that when I leave my dad will be all by himself.

Re: DOES ANYONE FEEL SAD ABOUT...
I do!
I'm moving in a few months and we've been going back and forth cleaning this new place and stuff and I get sad each time. My family is really close and we're loud and always have a good time. I feel bad leaving them...especially my brother

Re: DOES ANYONE FEEL SAD ABOUT...
Except for my 4 years at college, I've always lived at home and I am very close to my mom (even when I was away at school, we would talk on the phone everyday). I am soooo sad about leaving home when I get married. I am definitely looking forward to building my own home with FH, but I KNOW that I'll be so sad about leaving my mom. My younger brother will be leaving to college a year and a half after my wedding and I get so sad thinking about her being without any of her kids
I know it's the rule of life, but we're latin and sooooooooooooo close to our families so it's weird, but I'm sure I'll adjust well (eventually )

Re: DOES ANYONE FEEL SAD ABOUT...
Absolutely! I moved downstairs from my mom and there are certain days where I miss her and I go up and hang out.
Now we're talking about moving upstate after the wedding (FH is in the running for a new job) and I'm a little scared! My sister is there so I think I'll be ok but my mom will be alone in the house.

I feel the same my mother and father got divorced about 4 years ago and my mom only has my brother and me.
My dad was remarried 2 days after the divorce went thru, so i feel bad for her since she is still alone.
Its going to be really hard moving out even though im literally moving around the block, plus she will still have my brother there.
Either way its hard.

Re: DOES ANYONE FEEL SAD ABOUT...
Maybe if I was leaving one of my parents alone I would have felt bad, but I left immediately after I graduated college and I couldn't wait to get off of Long Island.
Don't get me wrong. I love my parents and Long Island was a nice place to grow up, but it was stifling out there. My parents were very over-protective and I was really outgrowing the friends I made in highschool. I needed to leave and open my world a bit.

I know I'm gonna miss my family, I'm trying to convince my mom to move closer to where I'll be.

Re: DOES ANYONE FEEL SAD ABOUT...
I'm so glad someone made this a topic...I have two years but I get so sad everytime I think about it, my parents are my BEST FRIENDS in the whole world and I can't even think about it yet. FH and I tried the apartment thing for a little while but I don't think I was ready yet and I moved back home...I will miss their company terrible and all of the late night talks I could cry right now We are going to start looking for a house about 6 months before the wedding and my parents sat me down the other night and told me that after the wedding they are going to move to florida....oh my gosh I was devistated! They are taking my 9 year old sister with them of course and then my 22 year old sister told me that she might go with them...I will have no one here. FH will not go to Florida he is an electrician and works outside so it is kind of unfair to ask him to do that when it's so hot down there but I want to be where my family is...so I'm putting on the guilt trip telling my parents they are leaving me and when I have kids they will be weekend grandparents...it's not working though..I know I'm being selfish but I never want them to be far....I hope I don't feel this way when it's actually time to move out because uh oh then what will I do...thanks for listening girls because I can't talk to them about it because they want to leave....

Re: DOES ANYONE FEEL SAD ABOUT...
i am still going to be living in my parents' house ( in an apt. upstairs) and i still cry sometimes just thinking of the change. . .
but of course it will be really hard for me when we really do move out - but i am looking for a home in the neighborhood, so it shouldn't be SO bad.
