Ok when I tell people Iam getting married in 2009 (I just got engaged a couple of months ago)....they look at me like im crazy for setting a date 2 years in advance. They always say 'well why not next year?' or 'wow 2009 is so far away, why then??' Does anyone else get these reactions?
I actually like the idea that I have enough time to plan exactly what i want and to make it perfect, and not to mention saving $$ is also a factor because my father is helping with the $$, but not for everything.
So i was just wondering am I the only one that gets the looks like I have 3 heads when I say 2009 wedding lol.....Its beginning to bug me.

not at all...there was a post about this before too! You are not alone...i actually heard this yesterday from a complete stranger in the nail salon...i just nodded and smiled at her...different strokes for different folks...I like having time to plan also!

Ohhhh my gosh.... they act like they cant believe somebody would wait soooooooooooooooooooo long. i really dont think it's a long time... I have less than two years and a lot of things that still need to get done and ALOT of money to save. I really want to tell people that coment negatively to mind there own business....obviously this is what works best for FH and I or else we wouldn't do it

Sometimes...but I am getting married at the beginning of 2009, so I am only a year and 4 months away....but its sounds much further then it is! Screw everybody who says that to you! It's what is right for you two, you cant rush something like that.

I did a post like this several months ago ! I know exactly how you are feeling !!!! It is soooo annoying. Its like, 'Im sorry that I want to be able to have all the vendors I want & have to save a lot of money'..

a person that I know had the cojones to tell that someone who wait more than a year after they got engaged to get married they really dont want to do it and is only prolonging the breakup (of course after telling me that I shouldnt get marry b/c I am too young). You can count one less guest of my wedding list

You're def not alone... The worst reaction I received was when i went to a bridal expo and told some vendors the date... they looked at my like 'what the hell are you doing here' and just pushed me aside...

yeah i get it all the time...my friend got engaged after me and she keeps throwing it in my face that 'OH WELL YOU HAVE SOOO MUCH TIME YOURE GETTING MARRIED IN 2 YEARS-I DONT WE'RE GETTING MARRIED NEXT YEAR' im like umm ok.
Sometimes but not all the time some people actually think its smart ... others say well anything can happen from now untill then .. i think those people are ignorant !!

When I told my mom we wanted to get married in 2009 she told me she hopes she's still around then. She's 52 now!!!! Crazy. I guess everyone just needs to throw their two cents in.

My FH and I are paying ourselves. So actually we're planning then annoucing. The only person that knows that we're engaged is my mother because she's nosey! lol!
'09 is very close...it'll be here before we know it.
Dont pay them any mind girl...just get what u want!

i get that all the time. people just don't get that weddings are a lot of money! besides, i personally prefer a longer engagement so i have plenty of time to plan everything and i don't have to feel rushed to get things done right away.

yeah, i started off as 2010 also, but i was like ahh fcuk that... to me that was really too far away and i couldnt survive that long hahah 2 yrs is perfect i think!!

i have a friend that is gonna pop the question early next yr and i'm pretty sure they will be getting married 09 also... so theres a chance they might have the wedding before us but it doesnt bother me!

One reception hall banquet manager that my FH and I went to goes to us 'Oh my God, we aren't even thinking about 2009 yet. It's not like the old days when people took two years to plan, I'll show you the place, but you should really come back to book closer to the day. We have the WHOLE SUMMER wide open, there's no rush.' So being the kind of girl I am, I told him that every other hall we went to already had some summer 09 days booked and now I wonder what's wrong with his hall that no one goes there till the last minute. Needless to say, we opted for a different place.
