Does anyone know about the cops being shot?

and yes...our grandparents didn't commit crimes, but the world is a different place...and education is a good place to start!! Many criminals learn their trait in SCHOOLS!!!

and your governor has just cut money to the schools...so instead of trying to improve the conditions...it will only be worse...

and policemen are not the only people who put their life on the line...as a NYC teacher I have seen my share of weapons

Erica, you are so right!!! My FH is a high school teacher and he taught for six years in one of the worst city schools in Baltimore. He is not in a situation that is that much better. These kids are VIOLENT He has literally come home covered in brusis from having to hold some crazy student down. I can't tell you how many students have threatened to come back with a gun and shoot him. And there is not where to put these kids.

Not that I am comparing the dangers of Keith's job with a police officer, but it is scary just the same when he comes home covered in bruises.

My sister taught elementary school in downtown Rochester for a year and she found a knife in her THIRD GRADE classroom. Wonder what that kid will be doing by the time he is old enough to cross the street by himself.

just a wild note, do you remember that guy who did the shoot out on the LIRR many years ago.

Well turns out he got on the wrong train and was heading towards Adelphi University (my college) to shoot a professor. But he got on the wrong train and when he realized he was on the wrong train he started shooting in anger.

My sociology and psychology professor told me this

Yabbo, my mother is a dean at an inner city NY High School, in her top desk drawer under a lock and key (which is located next to a police officers office) she has between 50-75 knives, razors, switchblades. She has also collected 10 guns. So I agree, the frontlines of this don't stop at police officers. My mothers life is threatened on a daily basis by these ingrates. And when she calls their parents, do you know what she gets? 'F-U you piece of s***'. And that is on a nice day.

One day, she had a hearing for a child that stabbed another in the hallway between periods. This boy brought an exacto knife to school that looked like a pen, walked up to this boy and stabbed him in the neck, in a crowded hallway during passing. When the child and parent showed up, the parents blamed my mother for the incident saying that she wasn't watching him and that the teachers weren't doing their jobs. Then she called my mother a fat b**** after the child was expelled.

I'm a proud conservative and Wacky, I agree, the parents should be hung first.

Actually I think the man on the LIRR had a beef about nassau county and starting shooting once he crossed over the border from Queens to Nassau or something along those lines. I was on the train. It was the Port Jeff line.

My heart goes out to all the wifes and girlfriends of police and fire officers and to anyone that has to work with the public. The world is so unpredictable right now and it is very dangerous. Anyone that works in those fields should be praised on a daily basis for protecting us.

I just have to say that my FI is a NYPD officer and his brother is detective and everyday i pray that he comes home safe.

I am totally against the death penalty. I do not believe that any one (not even if they did somethign wrong) has the right to anyone's life. For my beliefs, it is up to god and him alone to decide what will happen to that person.

God forbide that they picked the wrong person or the guy who was standing next to the officer didn't pull the trigger.

I don't believe that it is justifiable, just because he is a police officer, that he took the chance of something happened to him (there is no justifiable reason for murder). Everyone takes the chance to leave their house everyday with the chance of a crazy person shooting them or driving a car when they know they could be in a car accident. That's Life

Ladies we should all stop arguing over this and just be happy that you were able to wake up this morning. We should all love each other, not disrespect one another .

I have some beef with cops (I was in cab and the cab i was in got into a car accident in front of a bar with a drunk probie firemen who i know was in the bar because I saw him in there and the police did NOT give the probie a breathalizer even though they should have and they were even told by witnesses the probie was in the bar. They also screwed up the entire police report) but I know that when SH!T hits the fan and my life is in danger the police will be the first to report to the scene and I have to trust them with my life.

When I heard the news and I hear 2 cops are killed and it upset me. I put aside my personal feelings of how I feel and for a moment I thought of the families and how those men risk there lives everyday.

Regardless of what, it doesnt matter 2 men who are here to protect and serve our city are gone and the people who took them are still walking around.

To all the NYPD/FDNY wives,
are your husbands marching in the parade on Monday? Are any of the NYPD wives going to the party on the pier afterwards? My DH is marching and we'll be at the party. If any of you will be there, it would be nice to meet!

Man I'm tired. Y'all wore me out today. But I vented and I screamed and yelled and went bananas and truthfully, I feel a lot better. Thanks for all the support, those of you that gave it, thanks for the kind words and empathy.

Rachel and Shannon I totally understand where you are coming from -- as I've stated before-my dad is a cop, BOTH my grandfathers and 4 cousins-so I know what it is like- it's so true the crap that goes on---but instead of beating a dead horse-i just want to thank you guys for venting for me!! three cheers for NYPD & FDNY & their wives! i feel better and didn't really take part in all this!!

Tammyjill, I was part kidding and part serious, youre a good judge of character.

I feel bad for these kids who were brought into this world with no chance, but when they become adults they lose the kid part.

I have the utmost respect for those who want to become cops. I thank them every day for protecting citizens. But when my brother wanted to take the test, I said you are out of your mind. Why would you want to put your life in danger to work with animals yes animals. Call me ignorant I dont care.

As far as the death penalty, it does cost more to run the death penalty, and its BS.

But trying to educate someone who has never had the chance to be taught the right way, is a waste of money as well.

Personally I think the govt needs to educate these young girls that breed these once precious babies and needs to find these fathers who abort their children every day and make them responsible.
Like get a job and take care of their kids, educate them before not after.

I dont know what the solution is. I work for a union and we go to shops in the most unfortunate cities of NY and it sickens me at the sight of all these people hanging out on the streets. Dont tell me they all have night jobs.

If you cant draft them, then make them work.

Why doesnt this happen because its cheaper to keep them on the streets.

wacky to add to your post on educating them I am going to add, my cousin who is now 19 years old told the family at her sweet 16 she was 5 months pregnant. it is now 3 years later and though I am upset she was a young mother, proud of her for finishing HS, going to a local community college, working and being a mother. She grew up in upstate NY where they dont watch much television and their are a lot of teenage mothers. They all have a story up there. She grew up without a mother. Her mother left her, her brother and my uncle because she was too busy putting white powder up her nose.

her brother was on probation for robery. So yea their life was tough, moved around a lot, etc... but the one thing they were taught was respect and to go to school.

How do you expect someone who gives birth at 15 to be a good parent? They're children themselves (and I'm not referring to your cousins, Mel. Sounds like she came through well).

I have one question, for those who do not believe that these animals should be put to death for executing these two cops, and you want them to be educated instead, are you volunteering to have them come live next door to you, your families, your kids, and be educated in your neighborhoods?

BTW, yes I am a cops wife, my father, brother, brother in law, grandfather, etc are/were cops. If these criminals keep believing they can kill cops and come off of it going to some 'education camp' when will the killing of cops stop?
