It was changed again.. you wont need one yet, but starting 12/31/06 you will need one. its always good to have one though, plus its easier in the airport if you have one.

I just came back from Cancun and my MOH didn't have one. She used her birth certificate and driver's license. I think that you'll need a passport beginning 12-06

You don't need one yet, but I went and applied for one anyway, because it's easier to carry than having my damn birth certificate with me, and we may go to the caribbean later this year which does require a passport right now.

Something to consider if your flight is not direct, and you have to stop somewhere in the caribbean first.

Interesting. DH and I were in Mexico last year and were told we absolutely needed our passports

I went to Mexico in October and I needed (everyone did) our passports. They were very strict about it.

Always best to have the passport, though, even if it's not required yet! It's easier then bringing 3 forms of ID with you!

it may not be necessary now--but i'd say go ahead and get one. i feel better using that then my license and b.c. besides it's such a great feeling to hold your passport and get your very first stamp!!
