does anyone NOT have a DOC?

I'm not getting one. I'd rather use the money on other things. I have enough people to help me run the show that day between my mom, FMIL, FSIL and my two sisters (MOH's). I also have my maitre'd and bridal attendants at my RH.

Besides I'm super anal about things and the DOC probably wouldn't do things the way I like them and get me all mad anyway....I like to do things myself

I don't have one, but I'm still undecided. My MOH is really good at organization so I think she can handle it. I just don't know if I want to put that on her, but knowing her she'd probably take it anyway.

im not. im having a small wedding 100 or less..

bp is small..2 -3 on each side. and we dont have a large family..my mom,and his parents.

if i had a huge family and needed some1 to crack the whip, esp for pix i would deffffff have 1.. but i think a whistle will be sufficient enuff.

I'm not...I'm asking my friend's sister to help out. She is going to be fresh out of college and wants to do PR...it's...similar...ha. I was going to invite her anyway, this way I don't have to get a DOC!

You girls all realize though that the DOC doesnt tell you what to do...It's the other way around...You tell her/him what to do...

My DOC put it in such simple terms for me (not her exact words, this is how i remember what she said...) 'I am like another mother on the day of your wedding...I will protect you from all the things that are going wrong and get things done the exact way you want them to be done...'

I'm not afraid of her telling me what to do. I'm afraid of me telling her what to do and her not doing it right Besides, I don't need another mother there....I've already got mine and FMIL, I think that's enough to handle

Re: does anyone NOT have a DOC?

everyone has their own opinions about this... in the beginning of planning, i felt like a DOC wasnt needed, just an added expense... you have other people to help you out, etc etc...

And then I got to the 6 month mark... started freakin out that things werent done, who was going to make sure my elaborate DIY cp's were set up right? who would get my mom into her corset dress (she seemed to think it was going to be me or my father)... I personally felt that I wanted EVERY ONE of my guests (even fam memebers) to just sit back and enjoy the wedding... not to be delegated duties... so here I am $900 broker, but finally at ease that everything will be taken care of and that I juts get to relax and enjoy the day without being hassled by vendors, without having to THINK about what needs to get done next on the day of...

IMO, I think that if you are having a very detailed wedding (aka a theme that you've carried out through every little detail), then you're prob better off with one... So thats my take on the matter

I don't have one but I definitely see the benefit of a DOC.

If I had extra money I would consider it, but I think that's what my sister is for!

I completely get all of the reasons for wanting one, but I think between the bridal attendant, the maitre'd and my bridal party, I'm covered.
