Just wondering if those of you who already have everything b/c you live with FH or for other reasons do not want a shower? Please don't think i'm materialistic but my mom & I were talking & she offered to purchase FH & myself almost everything that we would need for our new home if I didn't want a shower.
She told me to really think about the offer b/c we would probably only be inviting a small group (about 40) to the shower anyway & we most likely will not receive most of what we add to our registry.... any opinions?

Re: does anyone NOT want a bridal shower?
Im not having one b/c i never wanted one so you are not alone! ive also lived with FH for three years and we really have everything we need by now. I dont think it's materialistic looking at all for not wanting a shower, everyone is different, and everyone is in different living situations with their FH's

do you feel like you'd be missing out because having a shower is pretty much almost a given if you're getting married? Right now I don't feel like i'd miss it but who knows how I will feel later on.

My cousin just had her shower today and i saw how cute it all is and how fun it is and i thought that by seeing all of that i would feel as if, 'oh maybe i shouldve had one too', but i didnt feel that way to be honest. Alot of people thought it was strange i wasnt having one and some even insisted that theyll do it whether i want to or not without me knowing, but i made it very clear that i really dont care for one that much....im not sure how ill feel later on but i think if after seeing my cousins shower today i was fine then i think later on i wont really regret it either.

I would never be able to get out of one because my finance’s side of the family is very traditional! But, you are def. not alone. My aunt’s family does not believe in bridal showers or baby showers. They think it is a jinx before the wedding/baby! You will also be saving a lot of money b/c bridal showers can get very expensive!

Your mom sounds like mine, but told me that because she didn't want me to have a shower b/c FM and I already live together.. ' We should have almost everything already.'

Re: does anyone NOT want a bridal shower?
I am refusing to have one: My reasons:
1. I don't have a registry. Please give me money. I can't afford to pay for the wedding. I'm in debt....and I have too many plates now. If I need something in the future, I will buy it.
2. I'm not going to remember who bought me a set of towels. No I won't.
3. If you want to buy me a gift, so that I really remember that I got something special from you (grandmother, godmother, etc): buy me something CLASSIC (and you know what I want...diamond earrings, a dining room table, a painting, a family heirloom).
4. Who will I invite? My family/best friends. They know I need money. I told them. They know that they should give me something small to remember them by. Why do I need another dinner?
5. I live with FH. We have 2 of EVERYTHING.
Stand strong, girls: we just ARE NOT GOING TO REGRET IT: WHY ARE PEOPLE SO INSISTENT?

Re: does anyone NOT want a bridal shower?
I've have lived with Fh for 4 1/2 years. I didn't think I wanted a shower but I have to admit I had a great time at mine. I had everything for my house but it was mostly hand me downs or low quality/inexpensive stuff from when I first moved out of my parents. So I now have all new stuff and am planning on looking for a place to donate my old stuff. The shower meant a lot to my mom and mil so I went along with it. I never thought I would have such a great time.

Re: does anyone NOT want a bridal shower?
I pretty much have most of everything since we live together....but for me it's more about getting together w/ family and friends and really just enjoying everyones company be4 the big day ...'cause we all know how hectic that will be
