Does everyone have to put their 2 cents in? WOW UPDATE

Does everyone have to put their 2 cents in? WOW UPDATE

First of all- I am still stressed about registering. It was supposed to be something fun and it was at times but I definately DO NOT recommend going with FMIL. That was my mistake because I have a problem saying NO.

Luckily, I was ble to say NO to things she suggested and registered for everything I wanted and loved.

Ugh- Then yesterday...FMIL's best friend calls me up like 'oh you have mistakes on your registry and oh you didn't add this and why would you add that and I want to buy you this, it's not on your registry but what do you think' bla bla bla WHO DOES THAT? I wanted to say- I think it's disgusting and stick to registry but I politely told her to stick to the registry and told FMIL to tell her the same.

This woman had nerve. I show up to work this morning and this woman's younger sister (who's daughter is one of my flowergirls) sent me an email saying 'I heard you found an FG dress' (which I didn't) What about this one, I like it.

The dress was ugly, tacky and cheap looking.
IMO it's not fair to my other FG and my 2 other junior BMs to spend 200$ and for this woman to suggest a 30$ dress.

I also know some people can't afford more but, they can. Otherwise, I wouldn't ask that of anyone.
What nerve do they have to do this?

FH agrees with me and sees they are crossing all kinds of lines with their 'suggestions'

It may not sound so bad but, it is and it's even worse because I have never really had to be so stern about saying NO.

It's just not fair to everyone else in my Bridal Party if I make an exception for these people.

I just found this in my inbox and I am so disgusted at how rude they are being, I can't believe someone can send this email:

About the dress you sent me, I hope you won't get me wrong here but we really don't like it. First the color is too pale, those sleeves like butterfly wings and the thing that goes over it with the flowers looks like an old dress, old fashioned not something for a little pretty girl. Maybe it looks ok without all those things and if the color would be white but I don't want you to waste so much much money on something that won't look good for Giuliana. She never liked flamboyant dresses, she just takes them off! Also, regarding the size please keep in mind that she will definetely grow until August so any fitting is useless at this time, I would most likey go with size 4 toddler. We are going to Europe for 2 months in April so definetely there won't be any time for fitting, honestly everything I buy is

online because I don't have time to go to the stores. I'm sure your time is valuable as well so if you consider that someone else would fit and like this dress I really don't mind at all. We will enjoy anyway your wedding and be a part of it with great love!

I feel your pain. I also have FMIL, who is ALWAYS making 'suggestions' and then getting mad when we don't take them. IT ISN'T THEIR WEDDING!!!

My only advice is to say 'thanks for the advice' and just do you want. People won't stop giving their opinions so might as well let it roll off your back!

Im sorry, but if this woman is not family, put her in her place asap and tell her if she doesnt like your decisions then her daughter doesnt have to be in the wedding and she doesnt have to go to it either

So when FMIL found out what had happend with the FG dress...she was upset and angry.
FMIL called her and told this woman to know her role basically. FMIL explained that our registry is what we want and like and if she really wants to make us happy then she can by buying off it not making 'suggestions'

Also, she told her that it was unnecessary and rude of her sister to send me an email at work of a flower girl dress- I am perfectly capable of picking an outfit for my flowergirl.

Ugh- some people. I don't know if their stupid or really want to upset me?!?

My FMIL is always putting her two cents in. She came with us for BM dress shopping. Everything she suggested I was like 'EW put that down!!!!' Yes, a little snotty but it's the only way. LOL. So, I always have NO problem saying nicely and firmly 'NO, I do not like it.'

WOW!
Well... not I am curious to see this dress. Do you have any pics?
That email from her ripping the dress you like apart is a bit much IMO.
It's hard to deal with these situations. I'm sorry.

Good thing your FMIL backed you up! You are lucky she'll do that! I like you, have a hard time saying no. FMIL can be very pushy but she doesn't mean it that way... she is just trying to help and suggest things. She has really noticed what a hard time I have with saying no recently though (with everyone not her) and is now telling me to do what I want and to say no when I want to- even to her. So she may be a little overbearing with the suggestions, but I think your FMIL is trying to be helpful. She obviously has your best interest in mind if she will back you up like that. Remember, for people who don't have a hard time saying no, they don't realize that by suggesting stuff to us, we get stressed. It wouldn't get to them like it does to us and they aren't trying to upset us.

That mother of the flower girl and her sister though- they are a piece of work!

Also- does this fg's mom think you are paying for her dress? It sounds like she does...

I have to agree! You don't need this stress, especially over a FG dress!!!! It's just ridiculous!

People have some freaking nerve. I have learned this in the planning process as well. Be firm and just remind people that it is your day and your way! If they don't like it, tough.
