Does FH give you a hard time...(Vent)

Original post by Butterfly123

about going to family functions??? I just got into a mini-argument with him because we got invited to my cousins baby's bris on Saturday and FH had a dentists appointment that he already rescheduled. My issue is that he reschedules once before cause he was too tired. Now all of a sudden its SO important to go to his dentist appointment. My family has only seen him a handful of time and weve been together 6 years!!! I never give him a hard time to go to any of his family events. There arent many, but I go to every one. Whenever I tell him theres a family party to go to, we always get into an argument cause he tries to find a way not to go. Its just annoying. Anyone else's FH do this?

i would be really mad at him if i was in your situtation, and let him know how pissed i was, and the same thing like you said.....he rescheduled before, he can do it again.

I am really mad but I just have to suck it up cause Im so sick of fighting about it. We agreed that its over and were not gonna talk about it again.

oh wanna hear advice they gave us at pre-cana about fighting and the 2nd one will shock you lol.

1st-they said to hold hands while youre fighting bc they say you'll find it hard to argue while holding hands

2nd-get naked and argue and see if you can continue arguing lol

LOL yeah they told us to touch each other while fighting

like just a finger or something so they told us a story that one couple was fighting and the girl just took one finger and put it on her FH's cheek and they both just bust out laughing

yeah me and FH go through that, when its reoccuring arguments about the same thing, i just leave it alone because its no point, he wont change and i cant make him, so i just give up after awhile

I know you're all gonna think I suck for dealing with this and he ***** for being that way... BUT

My FH does not go to family events with me. At first I would cry and make a big deal about it, now I don't even ask him, I just go. Like he's there for the big holidays, Christmas, etc. But I don't really need him to be at my cousin's hs graduation or my cousin's baby's 2nd b'day BBQ.

We don't live on LI so he gets stressed in traffic, etc. I actually am having a better time w/out him at the parties. I was even thinking of attending a cousin's wedding w/out him and saving myself $100!

Now I don't even ask him, I just go without him and I freakin' LOVE IT! I don't have to hear him complain and I get to chat and gossip with my aunts and cousins.

He goes with me to dinners for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, 4th of July, Mom's Day, etc. But I don't really need him to be at my cousin's HS graduation or my cousin's baby's 2nd b'day backyard BBQ.

We don't live in NY, so he gets stressed in traffic, etc. I was even thinking of even attending a cousin's wedding w/out him and saving myself $100 and lots of bitching!

No way, FH wouldn't have been around for that long if he wasn't one to mingle with my family. One thing that we highly value is family and he comes to ALL of my family functions without a grin and I do the same. When there are big holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas we luck out....dinner is always at my house at 1:00 and we are done with dessert by like 4:00..just in time for a 5:00 dinner with his family lol We eat a lot those days!

Make him go....give him the story that he should get used to this since you guys are getting married and becoming one family.
